  1. Henry the Young King lives, but what happens to Aquitaine?

So, this was inspired by a @material_boy thread about Philip II of France and Richard I of England. Let's say that Henry the Young King doesn't die in 1183, and instead manages to succeed Henry II as King, if and when Richard goes off on crusade, I've got two questions. Does he still get...
  2. A Lusophone World

I also got confused with that.

Said By the end of 1987 Disney’s foray into Japanese animation had netted only a modest profit, but lots of goodwill with...

biplanes in jet engine era? Interesting
  6. What if the U.S. outsourced manufacturing to post-Soviet Russia instead of China?

The Asian Tiger economies and then China are case and point of having a very motivated population of potential young workers who would be employed for very little and having a solid civil service to back them up. Russians viewed themselves as having arrived as a major power so they weren't going...
  7. Moonlight in a Jar: An Al-Andalus Timeline

Great! But Bataids in TTL are Patzinaks (Pechenegs), not Turks, as I understand
  8. AHC: Defend the Falklands

The alternative is to sharply bank to a side after firing... which presents a nice, large fat target to AAA... another bad position to be in...
  9. The Forge of Weyland

Thanks! I promise not to mention Australian tanks... :D
  10. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

Balck was a lieutenant-colonel and had only commanded a Panzer regiment at this point. I am not sure he would be considered senior enough to command the DAK. If he had taken up the offers to work in the General Staff in the Interwar period he might have been more advanced, but as he didn't...
  11. The Forge of Weyland

It's not a silly idea for the Luftwaffe, after all the British fighters can't be everywhere, and they dont know about the Air defence system. Moving the gold reserves is actually OTL, its much easier to transfer gold from Canada to the USA, and they need to pay the USA for everything.
  12. WI: A world without Plato's philosophy

Does Aristotle still become a philosopher? If not, then development of scientific method may be delayed for several centuries more or never develop as in the places where scientific method was developed (Islamic World and Europe) it drew heavily from Aristotle.
  13. AHC: Replace the main cash crop of the CSA / Southern USA

Vidalia onions? Although that would be just Georgia. Tea. Marijuana. Hemp. If it becomes lumber like GuildedAgeNostalgia suggested, it'll probably be loblolly pine, but I don't know off the top of my head when those forestry/tree-farming techniques were invented.

    AHC: Defend the Falklands

It's at this point that I splutter into my cocoa. A seaborne assault from Argentina to attack Ascension Island? With the assets they had? Let's just leave it as: "Beyond their capabilities." To say nothing that attacking a base that contained US military personnel would not be received well in...
  15. The Forge of Weyland

Damn seems the Luftwaffer is trying to bomb Britian at least home chain along with the Spittfires and Hurricanes are as effective as in OTL. Still though things aren't going well for Belgium and King Leopold III isn't as impressive as his farther or as capable. Also the French seem to be...
  16. WI: A world without Plato's philosophy

I can't imagine the world without Plato! Philosophers from all over the world have turned to his works. They had many disciples and followers. And having got acquainted with their works, you face the question: what Platons should our land give birth to? Answer: people who can: think, think...
  17. What if the Prohibition Era never happened?

Americans would have had better beer since many of the small local brewers would not have been closed.

  19. What if the Prohibition Era never happened?

States already made their own liquor laws before Prohibition. Capone and co still criminals but on lesser scale. People had been making their own booze and there'd been corrupt politicians before.
