AHC: is it feasible if the world started diversfying away from fossil fuels much earlier

It wasn't a priority for heads of states, aka the people who could do something.

Discussion: What if Edmund, Earl of Rutland survives Wakefield?

I was actually thinking about this. People use this as “evidence” that Eddie 4 was actually illegitimate and ROY didn’t reveal it because he didn’t want to be humiliated. Might Edmund claim this is the truth?
  3. Little Rock Nine Massacre

The Soviet Union will (and did try to OTL) do very well by branding the "so-called democratic USA" as a living hellhole where the state governments want to subjugate and eradicate the lower classes. DC has no immediate answer to that truth at a time when the Red Scare and the McCarthy furore was...
  4. AH Timeline: The NHL-WHA merger: A different story

1.)There are some rivalries brewing, but none to the level of Red Wings-Avs. But some good ones are in the works. 2.)Well, he wanted the NY/NJ Knights of the NAHO, but team owner Robert F.X. Silverman refused to sell his team, so Trump ended up with the IceKats.
  5. AHC: Replace the main cash crop of the CSA / Southern USA

I merely point out that rice, OTL, was quite profitable. Why wouldn't it compete on a global market? with or without secession, the north is going to be a market for the south. Why is US lumber not competitive with Canada? That is completely specie dependent. The reality is that it is quite...

    Wi President Cordel Hull

He could be talked to support it by Churchill.
  7. Discussion: What if Edmund, Earl of Rutland survives Wakefield?

Sure hope so. Edward and Edmund seem to have been close, atleast when they were young (as in like 11 and 10 respectively, can't say how they were in 60), and Edmund seems to have been RoY's favorite, and they had the same tutors etc so a reasonable amount of loyalty and competence can be expected.
  8. Native Americans domesticate gomphotheres

The Inca might not be the major power in the area as their core territory around Cuzco is to high up in the Andes outside the notiomastodon range (and the range of other gomphotheres as well (here are the ranges: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_gomphothere_fossils_in_South_America) We...
  9. Why are the western allies bombing civilians?

The aircraft were always part of an evolution in the design, not fully clean sheets of paper. The changes were something that personnel could be trained in on fairly quickly since they would not have to relearn everything, just part of their assigned duties. There are two other factors that...
  10. Gary Seven-based Star Trek spinoff replaces TNG

Not sure she had a bad experience - just that she doesn't like talking about "bimbo" roles. Gary Seven would be too close to Time Tunnel in 60's and would need to be established before Sliders (mid 90's). It's also competing with Dr Who's heyday in between so I don't think there really is an...
  11. Goeben Atlantic breakout

Goeben's belt ranges from 3 to 11 inches. If hit on a part of the belt with 11 inches of armour Goeben would have a very reasonable zone of immunity. If hit on part with 3 inches armour well there's probably nothing vital there but the shell is probably going through at almost all ranges. When...

Discussion: What if Edmund, Earl of Rutland survives Wakefield?

I am not sure if he’d stop Edward from marrying Woodville. Assuming he is as good a soldier as his brothers it could change the balance of power to further favour the Yorks, at least for a while.
  13. An Age of Miracles Continues: The Empire of Rhomania

    I don't know, I stumbled on it.
  14. Discussion: What if Edmund, Earl of Rutland survives Wakefield?

I think it's perfectly possible that having Edmund survive means that Clarence is of less value to Warwick and thus there isn't the immediate focus on rebellion as there was otl. Which also means that Clarence becomes a bit player rather than the serious player of otl. I also think it's possible...
  15. WW2 Technology WI: Airborne Divisions Create "Drop Pods"?

I wasn't thinking of an exact copy, just the fuselage (for its volume), with a wing that could lift as much. Actually, I was imagining the Skycrane idea as a glider, combined with the Mistel concept, if that was possible (or practical).
