The New Order: Last Days of Europe - An Axis Victory Cold War Mod for HoIIV

I’m just about to unify Russia as Gumilyov (with help from General Debug) and I was surprised how uncomfortable it was. I expected villainy, but it still felt weird. i need a palette cleanser. I’m thinking Tomsk, but I don’t know which salon and I would absolutely appreciate any other...

What if the Soviet Union never existed?

Being more benign (that is less murderous, repressive and totalitarian) and about as stable as Soviet Russia and the USSR under Lenin and Stalin is not a very high bar to clear, though.
  3. A destiny fulfilled - An Eleanor of Austria TL

Well here more than ever Catherine was her father’s daughter as she stolen from her niece the crown who was promised to both of them and while angry for her death and the fact who she never fulfilled her promise of sons who would secure the Tudor dynasty, Henry is still in love with her and...
  4. The Forge of Weyland

I feel the mountaineer expedition is most likely going to be a disaster, as having to travel down the channel between fortress Holland and Blighty is perilous to the extreme. Also the airborne operation might just meet a sticky end if the AdA has reinforced the Low Countries theatre in...

More Helicopter/light carriers in post ww2 period

Assume you are Greece. You presumed task is to provide air cover for reinforcements /surface action groups moving to Cyprus. Air bases in Cyprus are presumidly not an option for permanent basing of aircraft. How is that task better accomplished? 1. By having a single light carrier its aircraft...
  6. WI a canal was built from Thessaloniki to Belgrade?

Not only do you need to dredge Vardar and Morava, you will also need to keep appropriate water levels in both rivers and the canal, which will be problematic, especially in the summer.

A destiny fulfilled - An Eleanor of Austria TL

Poor Catherine, at least she didn’t experience the cruelty she did in OTL. Great update!
  8. The Forge of Weyland

Well the slog continues for Antwerp and looks like Italy is keeping quite for now at the very least.
  9. More Helicopter/light carriers in post ww2 period

Second hand WW2 CVL and CVE were cheap. The real problem was operating costs. Most of the navies that thought they could afford them tried to, then found out they couldn't really afford them in the long run and progressively carrier aviation become the rich navies sport it will always be.

What if the Soviet Union never existed?

I'm having real trouble seeing a benign, stable government emerging in Russia at this point in history. You need a person or cause to lead Russia in that direction, and I'm having trouble seeing that. You'll need an earlier POD.
  11. Stupid Luck and Happenstance, Thread III

Well a couple years later Germany might have drones so somebody 16000 km away could be helpful.

    Threadmarks: 1513 - A very unhappy King

Henry VIII, King of England has just returned from his French campaign and was simply furious: his campaign against France had been much less successful than he had hoped, and he had felt abandoned and betrayed by his allies, specially his father-in-law, Ferdinand of Aragon, or well former...
  13. What if the Soviet Union never existed?

You are not going to get constitutional monarchy in 1918, if I remember correctly most of White army general didn't want Romanovs back, so a far right military dictatorship is the most likely outcome.
  14. The Forge of Weyland

And the battle for Antwerp continues, as well as a few other things :D

    Threadmarks: 26 May 1940

26th May Belgium To support the Antwerp attack, 6th Army begins a series of attacks against the Dyle Line. The first mainly intended to pin the BEF divisions in place, and force them to retain their reserve formations in case of a breakthrough. While there is always hope of a breakthrough, and...
  16. Earlier use of Tall Boys

That would have done marginal damage. The great effect of the Tallboy (and later grand-slam) was to cause a cavity in the ground, into which the nearby earth then collapsed, causing damage to the foundations of nearby buildings.

    Sports What Ifs.

Meme idea: At some point in time during the Covid-19 pandemic, an amateur athlete comes up with a sport named "Coronaball": an indoor sport (because of course) whose teams are made up by three players (average family size), and in which players have to keep a distance of at least one meter from...
  18. What if the Soviet Union never existed?

How would Russia and the world at large develop if the Soviet Union never came to be, as the White Army wins the Russian Civil War? POD: Vladimir Lenin is killed in 1918, removing the glue that held the Bolsheviks together and causing the Red Army to collapse. Thus, the communist dream never...
