  1. Europa Universalis: Rome

I haven't seen a thread about this yet (which shocks me, so I must have just missed it). http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/europauniversalisrome/news.html?page=1&sid=6180148&part=rss&subj=6180148
  2. A Prussian on the Spanish Throne (my first TL)

And Europa became Universalis (II): The Scramble of Africa From the 15th century onwards overseas expansion had been mainly a Portuguese, Spanish, French and British thing. In the three later cases, it was a decisive way to bring internal cohesion and national feelings to lands previously...
  3. Map Thread II

...Lincoln, and finally settled in Mecklenburg. All in all, I think it has resulted in an interesting situation. I'm hoping to convert it over to Europa Universalis III and see where things go from there. I hope to draw Brittany in as a vassal, or simply annex it, and finally forge a Celtic...
  4. A Prussian on the Spanish Throne (my first TL)

And Europa became Universalis (Part I). Frustrated in Europe, France imitated Britain and directed her imperialist aims to other continents. In 1881 the French garrisons in Algeria moved east and annexed Tunisia (an Ottoman vassal in theory) under the excuse that it was necessary to protect...
  5. Map Thread II

    YES! Finally a powerful Lithuania.
  6. Map Thread II

Map from a game of Europa Universalis 3, playing originally as Tuscany but now as a re-unified Italy. Currently 1652. Lithuainia is the funky light-purple color, Novgorod is the Imperial Russian color, the light sandy color is Egypt while the darker one is the Timurids. Burgundy is the one...
  7. What's in YOUR AH collection?

...and the Dragon, by Tom Clancy - Red Storm Rising, by Tom Clancy - maybe some others of which I forgot the titles PC GAMES: - Europa Universalis I - Europa Universalis III - Victoria: An Empire Under the Sun - Hearts of Iron II - Hearts of Iron II Doomsday (with Armageddon Expansion pack) -...
  8. Why France and England didn't discover America before the Iberians?

Certainly possible. Its done in Europa Universalis all the time. Whoever has the Azores or Canaries is in a good position to go poking around the Atlantic.
  9. I have an idea for a time line...

That's becaus these are brief ideas. I do plan on expanding on them, but to get the groundwork going is the main thing that is of my concern.
  10. I have an idea for a time line...

I don't mean to be offensive; you do have some good ideas here, but it does kinda sound like an After Action Report of a Europa Universalis or Civilization game.
  11. Map Thread II

Mmmm...Turkey.... Er..I mean..I once played as the Ottomans in Europa Universalis II and did pretty well, but I never controlled that much! The Persians just wouldn't let me conquer them...;)
  12. Map Thread II

Um...am I the only one that does not see anything?
  13. Map Thread II

    wow that's beautiful
  14. Map Thread II

My first attempt at creating a map directly off a screenshot: Austria -1546 (Game: Europa Universalis I) The text is a bit blurry, the German states are The Palatinate, Hessen and Thuringia.
  15. Europa Universalis III is out

I suppose many of you are familiar with paradox' great Europa Universalis series. The third installment of the series is now available in stores in America or for download from paradox' online shop. If you guys want to see what the game is like, you can read my first AAR (After action report)...
  16. Which Paradox game should I get?

Candidates for my purchase: Europa Universalis 2 Hearts of Iron 2: Doomsday Crusader Kings My two main criteria will be complexity and realism. Complexity: I gleefully played the first EU for hours, and it all came naturally eventually (though I never did certain things like manage merchants...
  17. EU 3 Demo out

There's a demo for Europa Universalis 3 out now. Based on it, I'm gonna have to say I'm leery about buying the game.

    Manifest Destiny!

Luck I guess? I didn't know it even existed until I found it. I went to EBGames looking for Victoria or Europa Universalis (not expecting to actually find either, mind you) and happened to find this instead. Actually, there were two copies... If you live anywhere near the Garden State Plaza...
  19. Manifest Destiny!

 HOW THE HELL DID YOU MANAGE TO FIND THAT!? You have NO CLUE how long I've wanted the all-in-one!

    Manifest Destiny!

After reading this thread, I went out and bought Paradox's Strategy 6 pack. It includes the full versions of: Europa Universalis II, Europa Universalis II: Asian Chapters, Two Thrones, Victoria, Hearts of Iron, and Crown of the North. :D For $19.99, it was like buying each game for $3.33!
