  1. AHC: Save a notorious flop

Thanks Greg, sorry for the wait, but I wanted to reply from a computer, not my cell phone. By saying that Altman wanted to "avoid the cartoon tone and stick to the original comic strip", do you mean stuff like including characters(eg. Castor Oil) who were unfamiliar to most people who grew up...
  2. Small Steps, Giant Leaps: How (Almost) Every Apollo Astronaut Made it to the Moon

Maybe he can pull a John Glenn and return to space aged 80 or something

Small Steps, Giant Leaps: How (Almost) Every Apollo Astronaut Made it to the Moon

One of the few spoilers I'll give is that his motorcycle accident gets butterflied.
  4. Map Thread XX

DBWI: James Cameron's Avatar doesn't flop?

Considering Cameron is still sprucing a series of sequels (despite no interest from anyone in the public and no financing forthcoming), then if Avatar had been successful, I would predict that Avatar 2,3,4,5 and would have been released in short order in order to take advantage of its success.

Patton in Korea/MacArthur in the White House

All true, and he's not going to be Stalin's successor ITTL. He'd still be perceived to be powerful enough at this time that Acheson would mention it though. Interesting take :) Suggestions are always welcome! Unfortunately I probably won't get around to this one... as I mentioned above it...

WI: Henry Fitzroy had had a son?

Your first point relies on the idea that Henry VIII would put his grandson before his daughters, and tbh I’m not really convinced about that. The act of marrying their mother’s, even if he annulled them later, seems to have been hugely important to Henry’s psychological reasoning for them being...
  9. Alternative History Armoured Fighting Vehicles Part 3

I like it. On several occasions I've drawn up something I thought was original only to have Life In Black post a photo of a real example. :frown::rolleyes: Screw originality. :openedeyewink:
  10. What would the British do if German tanks roll into Dunkirk? (no halt order)

Add in the terrain - low lying with lots of small waterways and weak bridges. There's a reason why Dunkirk was held by the Germans until the end of the war.

WI: Spain turns the Philippines into a Settler Colony?

If the Philippines has the Spice Islands both the Spice Islands and Mindanao would have Spanish settlers.
  13. New Alternate World Films

So speaking of which this made me think about the 2006 movie Southland Tales and on a lark I went to its wikipage where it says there are current plans to bring it back as a franchise . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southland_Tales

    AHC: Save a notorious flop

I don't know, man. I'll probably always remember him for calling a mermaid a "narf" and a dangerous beast hunting her a "scrunt", and having grown-ass characters interpreting cereal boxes to decipher a prophecy. I'm sure there was a quote somewhere to the likes of "let my goods go forgotten and...

University of Santo Tomas, Manila-NCR, Philippines. One of the oldest universities in Asia, this institution survived Doomsday as the capital of the Philippines was spared. In 2011, the university celebrated 400 years since its establishment. This year in 2021, the university will celebrate 410...

  17. AHC: Wank the McDonnell F-4 Phantom II

Funny to think that such a big, expensive plane which sold almost 5,200 units could be wanked. In terms of extra I think there might be a few, Britain had options for another ~28, Australia looked at keeping the 24 (-1) we leased and I'm sure there are other countries out there that could have...
