  1. Dunkirk Disaster and colonies exchanged for withdrawal from France and Netherlands

Also, by this stage, any deal with Nazi Germany would be deemed pointless since they would lie and cheat before the ink dried. And the British now knew it. There are precious few routes to a negotiated peace when one side is an omnicidal empire bent on global domination.
  2. AHC: Resurrection of Pantheistic Stoicism in the Middle Ages

Fair enough - although it's amusing to think that Thomas Jefferson was a pagan. Are we really saying that there was no chance of any religious development in Europe outside of Christianity for a thousand years? Seems highly deterministic.

Dunkirk Disaster and colonies exchanged for withdrawal from France and Netherlands

That's missing the point. Even acquiescence to that would be far too much for London. Naval dominance, especially with Japan a likely future threat, wouldn't allow Britain to accept even a return to 1914.
  5. Dunkirk Disaster and colonies exchanged for withdrawal from France and Netherlands

As others already mentioned, what the British wanted more than anything else was naval superiority. Giving away large parts of the French and Dutch fleets means throwing that away. You need to take into account that by making the French fleet weaker, the British loose the fleet of an ally. On...
  6. WI: France gives all Algerians full citizenship during the Algerian War

It would revoke the Pied Noirs ability to elect representatives to the National Assembly and would be an admission that Algeria wasn't nearly integrated or controlled enough to be a Department of France.
  7. Alternate Armoured Vehicles of Nations

I've had a discussion with friends about a wonky concept that might just be viable. Hear me out: Gas turbines and fuel armor are viable in the late 40s-70s. - multifuel capability to satisfy the guys obsessed with using gasoline and stuff? Check - compact, lightweight yet powerful? Check...
  8. Could any of the communist goverments of Eastern Europe have survived the Soviet Collapse?

Once Gorbachev made it clear the Red Army would not intervene to guarantee the continuity of the communist system in the Warsaw Pact countries, the genie was out of the bottle. The 1989 summer protests in Hungary could have fizzled then and there had Gorbachev been willing (or able) to...
  9. Dunkirk Disaster and colonies exchanged for withdrawal from France and Netherlands

Good to know. Maybe the French could give up their 4 best battleships and keep 3. This would probably be equivalent to the pre WWI situation between Britain and Germany and prevent Darlan from scuttling the whole fleet.
  10. Would Beria have been a good leader for the Soviet Union?

Yeah, to back this up with some sources and a timeline, mass graves have been found multiple times not only very close to Beria's residence but on the actual grounds of the property, which is now the Tunisian embassy in Moscow. They found several bodies of young women buried in his garden in...

    The Plantagenet Succession

Well, you see the thing is... we don't talk about the Anglo-Saxons. Also he was King of the English, not the King of England, very slight but very important different. Also 1066 is when England began fall in line with the Norman Conspiracy damnit!
  12. Fact Check Article: Prototype Nazi Nuclear Bombers Were Within a Few Months of Hitting New York

This is something I have thought about over the years. The Nazi nuke programme was scattered, poorly managed and starved of resources, so there is a hell of a lot of room for improvement. Further, if they only chose 1 development path, they wouldn't need that vast, vast, VAST resources expended...

    AHQ/AHC: Ideal modern tank design?

The Ratte but bigger and heavier. If it doesn't sink straight through to the bedrock it's not worth the defense contract money.

Most likely winner in a no-watergate 1976 Presidential election?

Automation and Computerization, it increases productivity, but t he workers would not ever see the benefit in a larger paycheck or in job security, as Offshoring is just around the corner too, Globalization. A triple whammy.

Long term effects of a Dewey '48 presidency?

I think the New Left would be the biggest group undercut imo. A dem party that's more New Dealer and New Frontier but less new left than OTL seems likely. Sure, you'd see a new more soclib group but imo it'd be more of an evolution from one or both of the new dealers/new frontier democrats...
