  2. What were the biggest tech and weapon mistakes and missed opportunities of Germany in ww2

Not so difficult IMO - stop American Lend-Lease to Russia altogether and suspend British aid for 1941 and early/mid 1942. Have Soviet Russia forced to build their own trucks, use only their own aircraft, etc. for the first 18 months of their involvement. Sure they can start to take the...

  4. WI: The Pazzi conspiracy kills Lorenzo de' Medici

In 1478, a plot was hatched in Renaissance Italy. This was not exactly an uncommon occurrence, but what distinguished this plot was its ambition: kill Lorenzo de' Medici, the de facto ruler of Florence and one of the most powerful men on the peninsula. While the Pazzi conspiracy killed Lorenzo's...
  5. The Diamond Map Thread

Not quite Islam Diamond: Another map, this one from a TL that I started and just lost interest in. The main POD is the Celtic Britons throwing out the Romans around 70AD, along with different migrations of the Germanic and Slavic tribes. The Goths never expand into central and western...

What are some cliches in a Central Powers victory TL?

If the US was a "10" in 1914, then I for one do not trust that scale at all....

Angevins and Mongols Diamond: POD 1: Henry II Plantagenet defeats France in 1159 and absorbs the French Royal Demesne into the Angevin Empire. With no real 'France', the Angevins become western Europe's most powerful realm. POD 2: The Mongols plow through Poland and Hungary and into Germany...
  9. AHC: Wank the McDonnell F-4 Phantom II

I think the loads on a mach 2 aircraft wings would preclude a wing root fold, especially given the huge area. The E2 has that style wing fold, but its wings are long and narrow.

Random thought: Would Roland Emmerich stay in German if he were born ITTL or would he still move to America?

Alternative History Armoured Fighting Vehicles Part 3

Hey @Claymore, if you get the chance, can you scale these three for me? And could you at the same time get out schemes for the long barrel Panzer III and IV and Stug.
  12. Socialist revolution in a European empire; what happens to the colonies?

Communists talk a good game about racial (and other kinds of) equality, but when it comes down to it historical inertia usually wins out. They come up with some rhetorical fig leaf about developing the colonies into proper socialist societies and then nothing changes.

    Map Challenge Thread I

For map challenges (i,e. "Break up the Soviet Union like this" or "make Europe have these borders by 1946"). First Challenge (for my thing): Make a map of a scenario where the USSR, before 1939, gains more SSR's to the west. Poland and Finland are encouraged.
  15. The Undying Empire: A Trebizond Timeline

So how do we explain SyFy original movies after Dog Soldiers...?
  17. Socialist revolution in a European empire; what happens to the colonies?

It's maybe worth noting that Indigenization was sincere, at least at first. The language and minority preference and promotion over Russians was definitely a change from the Tsarist policies (although religion was obviously more complex, with the Muslims in Central Asia in particular). Also...
  18. As Dreamers Do: American Magic Redux

Is Crocodile Dundee going to be a thing ITTL? And if so which studio should release it? I don't know. I think it would work as Fox, New Line, Grand Diamond, or even Cannon Films.
  19. WI: Heydrich Succeeds Hitler in a Nazi Victory Scenario?

The man was in charge of the Gestapo and the Holocaust was his baby (and largely his idea). You’re basically talking about one of the most evil men in one of the most evil regimes the Earth has ever seen.
  20. WI: Ali and Fuad Pasha live longer?

The Tanzimat reformers Faud and Ali Pasha dominated politics within the Porte from the Crimean War until their respective deaths in 1869 and 1871. Both were prominent reformers -- though not 'Westernizers' as they have labeled; while they certainly were open to Western ideas, they were both very...
