China does not take over Tibet

It was traditional territory, however clearly not the core. German reunification was between Germans. Whereas Tibetans are a distinct people from Han. A more accurate comparison would be German reconquest of Posen.

What are some cliches in a Central Powers victory TL?

My "favorite" one is that in a CP victory all of Ireland becomes independent. And trying to point out that at the least you should have a very bitter civil war lasting a couple of years between the Unionist and Nationalist communities tends to just get glossed over with "But German Support" as...

What are some cliches in a Central Powers victory TL?

This was more in fact due to French prudence rather than vindictiveness or whatever. Bismarck himself quoted that the French economy was crippled for three decades when the indemnity clause was written down amounting to 479 Billion dollars in todays money, but France managed to stave off the...
  4. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

Annoying but doable with effort and Germany has air superiority by this point so disrupting the engineering team will be hard. Probably slow them a day or so even if the bridges have been blown.

WI: Edward VI dies in 1547 while Henry VIII lives on?

I am pretty sure she was openly Catholic at this time. He has his nieces, the Greys, his niece Frances Brandon and his daughter Elizabeth.

  7. Romanov Ascendant: What if the Soviet Union survived?

Thank you very much :) Erich Mielke was somewhat of a mistery. Though he was long-standing Minister for State Security, he backed Krenz in 1989 and advocated for a pollitical solution. Mielke actually had good personal relations with Gorbachev in OTL. He was allready 82 years old in 1989 and...

Golly, this is probably the nicest ATL we've seen that still has capitalism. :P
  9. Stanley Baldwin's Successful Political Gamble: A TL from 1923

In this TL Evan Durbin did not drown on 3 September 1948 while rescuing his daughter and another child in dangerous surf at Crockington Haven, near Bude, Cornwall. He and his family went on holiday to Cornwall, but a few days later than in OTL. His daughter and the other child went...

WI: Edward VI dies in 1547 while Henry VIII lives on?

Henry VIII would probably die not long after it he’d definitely start trying really, really hard with Catherine. He might also take 2 more wives in that time. He could try, though now he has a problem. He’s Protestant and has 1 Protestant daughter, but she’s the younger daughter, so he may...
  11. What are some cliches in a Central Powers victory TL?

    1. Germany lost much more territory than France did. A huge chunk of the country was also demilitarized. 2. Crushing? France was able to pay of the idemnity in a few years (2-3 I think). In the case of Germany it was so huge that it was scheduled to be payed in 90 years (the french originally...
  12. The Forge of Weyland

To be fair even when Germany invaded Norway, Denmark and Poland and had gone back on its agreement with Austria etc etc etc the Belgians were still doing a case of "Well if we SAY we're neutral then I am sure that nice Mr Hitler will leave us alone!"
  13. Q: Would Hitler still be the man we know if he wasn't kicked out of art school?

I think we need to put this into a context, let’s say that Hitler becomes a student at the most prestigious art school in AH and one of the most prestigious in the world. This would have a serious effect on how the world saw him, in 1914 when he’s conscripted I would expect him to become a NCO...

China does not take over Tibet

From the Chinese POV, you're entirely right. Add to that the fact that a major source of water for China originates in Tibet... @acgoldis - it was pretty much inevitable that a strong government that unified China would seek to exert its authority over Tibet one way or the other, once the rest...
  16. China does not take over Tibet

Tibet is a part of China proper, well at least to most Chinese people. To say that reestablishing Chinese authority over it was "imperialism" is almost as laughable as saying the German reunification was "imperialism".
  17. What were the biggest tech and weapon mistakes and missed opportunities of Germany in ww2

Also does nothing to stop the Holocaust (even 6 month makes the number of dead signigicantly worse), plus likley ends with Berlin etc. a radioactive ruin.... The POD has to be pre-Poland with Stalin the agressor ... only way to POD away the Nazi death camps and have the Allies not declare war on...
  18. Best accidental president

Only if this could be done at no cost and minimal effort. Even for Lincoln, freeing the slaves was a means to an end rather than an objective in itself. If protecting the Blacks and reconciling the (white) South are incompatible, then isn't it a foregone conclusion which will ultimately win?
  19. Best President USA never had (19th century edition)

Maybe if the Presidential Succession Act is changed 20 years earlier. Had Seward, the party's elder statesman, been next in line to the Presidency in 1868, then Andrew Johnson would surely have been out on his ear.

Well, for the Entente, you could give the Canadians giant bear mounts and the French Republic desert troops.
