WI: The Karens take over Persia

I read the title and was like "Why Persia ? "
  2. How powerful would a (semi) successful United Arab Republic be?

Disregarding how realistic or unrealistic a successful UAR would be, how powerful on the world stage would it be? Lets say it consists of Egypt, Sudan, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Yemen. Would the UAR have the possibility of becoming a new great power on...
  3. AHC: Wank the McDonnell F-4 Phantom II

I don't think it would be possible to make a successful modular Mach 2 fighter in the late 50s. From our perspective Mach 2 has been around for so long that we consider it normal, but in 1960 it was difficult and rare and the demand led to all sorts of compromises like low slung canopies, long...
  4. Dunkirk Disaster and colonies exchanged for withdrawal from France and Netherlands

The alternative being to condem them all to Nazi extermination camps ??? (it would be playing straight into Hitlers hands == "look I'm tyring to do the right thing, sending all these poor refuges to their spiritual homeland, but Churchill's forcing me to resettle them in the east ...") [OTL...
  5. WI: The Karens take over Persia

Soooo, what was all that about?
  8. Dunkirk Disaster and colonies exchanged for withdrawal from France and Netherlands

I can't see the Brits allowing hundreds of thousands let alone millions of Jews into the Mandate by that point.
  9. Ivan's revenge : Soviets try to settle score with EGYpt

interestingly a lot of the original Foxbat A served in Algeria and Libya throughout the 80s I think all soviet foxbats in Egypt were recon versions

  11. The Darling of the World - A Persian TL

Not gonna lie, I chuckled a bit as I was writing it. 😆

Socialist revolution in a European empire; what happens to the colonies?

In France, I think the plan was integration and nominal civil rights. It was still seen in France's best interest in order to extract resources, and until the cold war, nationalism and leftism were hardly mutually exclusive. Hell, 19th century racism was accepted by most people with ww1 starting...
  13. Moonlight in a Jar: An Al-Andalus Timeline

I'm confused by what you are saying, regular Arabic is Right to Left as is Andalusi, and I have no idea how you interpreted that comment as having anything to do with writing direction.
  14. A Shift in Priorities - Sequel

Yes, that is basically what he just said. Poor Malcolm.

Dunkirk Disaster and colonies exchanged for withdrawal from France and Netherlands

Hitler never, at any point in his career IIRC, ever offered to voluntarily give up lands that Germany had conquered. He also basically ripped up / laughed at / ignored every treaty and agreement that he didn't like. Sorry, but the premise that this thread is exploring is not credible.

What are some cliches in a Central Powers victory TL?

Considering that the Austrians and Bulgarians conducted a Serbian genocide using the same arguments to badly treat the civilians as the Nazis used in Poland twenty-five years later... (your country no longer exists so the laws of war no longer apply to you) I think it's safe to assume that the...
  17. WI UK ADOPTS NORWEIGEN MODEL FOR NORTH SEA OIL

Don't forget 1972: National dock strike. Like many other strikes, it was to 'safeguard jobs' ... specificaly, in this case, to prevent 'Containorisation' of the London docks. They won, sucessfully keeping containerisation out. Docklands is rather nicer, a lot more more residential, now (although...
  18. Could the USSR work well enought on its orthodox form to be a pleasant place in modern day?

The last part was true even OTL after 1947 (when the last major famine ended), by the 1960s the average Soviet citizen was consuming more calories a day than the average person in Western Europe (although it wasn't amazing quality). You might be able to give everyone who wants one a car by now...

What are some cliches in a Central Powers victory TL?

Well, that I'm afraid is trading horses. It's useless for the Germans to have colonies if they can't get to them. So to get their colonies back, they would have to give something in exchange. The Central Powers winning the war mean France and Russia are defeated, but it doesn't mean Britain...
