What were the biggest tech and weapon mistakes and missed opportunities of Germany in ww2

This was a fairly extensive discussion on the topic, might be worth looking back into it if there's any useful information there: https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/threads/germany-embraces-steam-powered-vehicles-in-1933.484186/ Steam trucks don't have to be terribly fast. They just have to...
  2. Have the Austin Metro be more successful

That's a somewhat biased opinion, people bought minis due to love of the dated design, people bought metros objectively.
  3. Treaty Ports (Ireland) in WW2

It’s complicated, the British held the fortifications but the facilities in haulbowline were in Irish hands and would need to be returned ( and were already put beyond use by some utter gobshite that should be damned to hell. There’s also the fact that the WW1 support labour is gone as well...
  4. What are some cliches in a Central Powers victory TL?

IMO it's as unlikely for Germany to reach Paris in 1918 as it is for the French to continue fighting should Paris fall in 1918. Someone could be creative and send a squad if stormtroopers to the US via submarine and have them take a random small town named Paris and see what happens when...

    Hail, Britannia

There is some information, on the post on the UKE infobox:
  6. The Darling of the World - A Persian TL

I can see that, given how all three have the same outline beliefs.
  7. Have Hudson Motors continue to be viable company up to the present.

You need to also factor in jeep prices in the era and make hudson bull succesfull outside of the us perhaps like in the newly independent india or indonesia or the african country or like i said any post war country that desperately need utility jeep hey perhaps even rhodesia if you want to be...

Alternate Lord Protector during the reign of Edward VI?

And it's rather odd for someone to be given two ducal titles in the same kingdom i.e. Cambridge and Bedford. If Edmund must have 2 then Ireland would contain the second.
  9. Best Books Never Written

Battlefield Earth: An epic war novel series about a conventional World War III between the American-led Western Bloc and the Soviet-led Eastern Bloc, winner take all.
  10. Derailed and Rerailed: A story of American Railroading, during the Cold War and Onward.

I’m really enjoying the austerity of that Alaska conversion and it looks to be a great counter to any Soviet cruiser and battlecruiser that gets pumped out. I don’t even think you need the aft SPG-49/SPQ-5 unless they’re needed for the Eagle? While tacking on a Terrier launcher like the Mk 9...

A Shift in Priorities - Sequel

If the Russian government is seriously contemplating war, you’d think they would develop a super extensive Civil Defense program. After all, Russia is so spread out that providing relatively modest shelters to everyone would be expensive but would ensure a lot of people survive. (Not that that...
  12. What if Mao Zedong was president of the United States

Still, not ASB. Only just very implausible. ASB is something which would require magic. OP has clearly stated that on this scenario Mao's parents move to China and he enters to politics.
  13. Best Books Never Written

Burning Daylight, a novel by Al Gore in which human civilization is driven underground by global warming and extreme solar flares. Title taken from a never completed novel by Jack London about life in the Yukon winters during the Gold Rush at the end of the 19th century.
  14. AHC: Save a notorious flop

I remember them well. At least Relax and Two Tribes. But did they have a following among pre-teens? I remember them as being gay and out, and possibly marketed to the gay demographic, and also fans of what was got labeled New Wave in the 80s.

Have Hudson Motors continue to be viable company up to the present.

I would totally Americanize it, call it the Hudson Bull, and point it totally at the farm utility market. Jeep charged around $100 for the PTO, as well. The base Jeep didn't come with much, the top and rear seat were optional equipment the first years.

  17. An Alternate History of the Republic of Nauru
Threadmarks: Chapter 2: Laying the Foundations | A Lighter, Softer Decolonization

What is remarkable about Nauru's decolonization is not what it did, but what it did not do. For the Nauruans, the nationality of the experts superintending the phosphate mines did not matter - the nationality of the people they worked for did. The foreign teachers, administrators, and mining...
  18. Plausibility checks: Habsburg exchanges during the Napoleonic period

Let's assume this alt Joseph is a Polonophile and gives his uncle (Frederick Augustus) his Polish possessions to go along with the Prussian portions to form a larger than OTL Duchy of Warsaw, to be ruled by Frederick as King (ignoring any implications with Russia). In theory, this would create...

  20. AHC: a Labour majority government before 1945?

@gaitskellitebevanite - I like the idea presented in the OP here, and I think it's too bad this thread ran out of steam. From your posts #8 and #11 it sounds like you are far from certain Labour would win any snap election in the 1931 timeframe, and even if they were, they were still wedded to...
