  1. The Quarter-BAM project

    How about "quaterbamBC0813-XX-YY"?
  2. Alternate History: Explain the historical event

The Transylvania Incident Vampire Paranoia in 1890s Kentucky resulted in a group of people setting fire to a building supposedly containing one of the creatures just after midnight in late August. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a woman run into the building while screaming under cover of...
  3. Treaty Ports (Ireland) in WW2

Sorry, you're right about the Free State, I got tripped up by the name changes
  4. The Sudeten War: History of the World after an Alternate 1938

OTL it took 17 days for Germany to go to Warsaw. And OTL Wermacht in 1939 was much weeker, than TTL Red Army in `1953.

    The Quarter-BAM project

This looks mostly good, but I do have a quibble - I think it would makemore sense to use "quarterbamYYYY-MM-DD" instead of "quarterbamYYYYmmmDD" (e.g. "quarterbam1939-08-31"). This would mean that, when we sort all the quarterbam maps alphabetically, they would stay in chronological order. This...

What were the biggest tech and weapon mistakes and missed opportunities of Germany in ww2

They can, but with a surface vessel (Like a PT boat.), one wants to lay the mine BEHIND the vessel instead of in front of it.
  7. What if NAZI Germany didn’t build battleships?

Then the British build a few hundred more flower corvettes. They were dirt cheap and good enough to face any submarine Germans had produced. 16kt allowed it to match convoys, had a gun to make sure submarines don’t surface and depth charges to finish it off. In fact with 250k pounds a piece you...
  8. Publius Crassus (son of the triumvir) Doesn't Die at Carrhae-Who does Pompey Marry?

Interesting. It definitely would have been a cool effect on history if Publius got to continue his stellar career, as talented as he was he would have been a major rival to Antony and Octavian. And to boot he would have a notworthy hier in his nephew Marcus.
  9. Treaty Ports (Ireland) in WW2

"air support" is the key phrase. As I have said several times. If the allies get air bases in the Free State then it is definitely possible that Germany will attack them, but the Free State is not going to grant them so it is hypothetical.

"What Madness Is This?" Volume II: Prophecies in the Dark

What happened was 2006 was in the original ending to 1.0, a global nuclear war broke out and basically annihilated civilization. Humanity survived but it was implied that after a warlord conquered North AmErica, they were marching down the same path to utter ruin.
  11. "What Madness Is This?" Volume II: Prophecies in the Dark

Completely normalized King of the Hill esque world. All the bad stuff is in the past and just considered history and normal people live their honest American lives under the auspices of Prophet and President.
  12. Impact of surviving Inca Empire on global economy?

A very large portion of the world's silver supply from the 1500s to 1800s came from Spain's colonies in the New World. If the Incas somehow maintained their independence, not only would the Spanish not have this source of currency, but the Incas themselves would have control of it (although it's...
  13. Treaty Ports (Ireland) in WW2

I think we've just crossed posts, sorry. Hitler basically invaded neutral countries when they were in the way or he needed to rescue allies, he didn't madly invade everyone he could. On refuelling I think the effects are marginal, especially compared to airbases so he should ignore it (although...
  14. Treaty Ports (Ireland) in WW2

You assume of course that the convoy routes remain the same if the allies had the basing and air support in Ireland? Hitler rarely acted in a rational way, and even had plans drawn up for invasion of Ireland so I’m doubtful he’d just let it go. As for intelligence gathering...not exactly a...
  15. The Third Rome - A Byzantine Timeline

AFAICT, this description of the siege and fall of Constantinople is almost entirely the same as OTL. While well written, there doesn't seem to be any AH content, except the exile of Antigonos (and possibly the dispatch of Gattilusio troops, which seems to have been in response to the prince's...
  16. WI: Petain Joined The Resistance With De Gaulle?

If nothing else I doubt an 84 year old could have the energy to run the Free French Army as well as someone about half his age.
  17. List of monarchs III

What if Napoleon stayed on Elba? Monarchs of Elba: 1814-1824: Napoleon I (House of Bonaparte) [1] 1824-1844: Joseph I (House of Bonaparte) [2] 1844-1846: Louis I (House of Bonaparte) [3] 1846-1893: Louis II (House of Bonaparte) [4] 1893-1922: Ippolita (House of Bonaparte) [5] [5] Born in...

Publius Crassus (son of the triumvir) Doesn't Die at Carrhae-Who does Pompey Marry?

All I have on this is Syme's comment in The Sons of Crassus that: "According to Appian, Caesar appointed him governor of Cisalpina early in 49. He died soon after." For this assumption Syme cites the fact that M. Calidius was there as governor the next year. It's very weird.
