  1. WI: Ford buys the Rover Company, Saab, and Nissan - Patrol maker later acquires Kawasaki, Mazda, Mitsubishi, and Subaru until the latter went bankrupt

So is this in the 60s? Being swallowed up by BL was a disaster for the actual Rover Car Company. I was fairly happy with it being part of Leyland Motors (not BL) although it kind of clashed with Triumph. If there was a foreign behemoth it could have been part of, I'd have gone with GM, maybe...

1923 Turkish population exchanges: ATLs possible

None... Turkey of 1923 is not going to send away Greek Muslims (or any Muslims) to Greece. Greece would not really welcome Muslims anyway. Turkey also has nothing to offer Bulgaria. Abkhaz, Georgian and Azeris are Muslim and will not want a deportation to the USSR. That's not happening...
  3. AHC: Jewish "Carthage"

Well I think they can pretty much do everything the Phoenicians did, but maybe on a smaller scale if you think their numbers are going to be smaller, but at the end of the day you just need the Israelite component to be dominant while you still integrate other Canaanite settlers, to boost the...

WI: Ford buys the Rover Company, Saab, and Nissan - Patrol maker later acquires Kawasaki, Mazda, Mitsubishi, and Subaru until the latter went bankrupt

Clearly FORD gets it's hands on BL's future K-Series engine in the late 80's and butterfly's away the Zetec.
  5. AHC: Jewish "Carthage"

Those colonies are going to be at least monolatrist. How much can you wank such colonies?
  6. AHQ/AHC: Ideal modern tank design?

    Q. About the MBT weight issue, people were talking conceptually about 45 tons, 50 tons, 55 tons. Is there a weight objective for the Block III tank? A. Yes. There is a desired weight, and there is a required weight. We have gone through weight study analysis and everything is a trade-off. When...
  7. Alternative History Armoured Fighting Vehicles Part 3

Another question rather than an answer, but what should the 20 pounder APDS perfomance be?
  8. AHC extend life of Royal Navy 13.5" Dreadnoughts and BCs into the 1940s.

I agree this is the mostly likely and would still have a real impact on RNs ability to fight in WWII as it gives then 5 more ships and also allows for more rebuilds in the critical late 30s as historically they thought they needed to keep all but 2/3 ships in service to cover immediate threats...
  9. AHC: Jewish "Carthage"

They can but probably it's not going to be Jewish as we know OTL in the later iron age, given you are changing history starting around 1000-900 BCE and creating far flung colonies that aren't going to follow the same religious trends as the mainland.

What were the biggest tech and weapon mistakes and missed opportunities of Germany in ww2

Pretty much everything Father Maryland has said in his comments, with an additional caveat: the catch-22 that any German government would deal with 1929 onwards was that any pickup in business activity, even if it was civilian in nature, would immediately put the currency under pressure. There...
  11. The Forge of Weyland

Using a depth charge at a shallow setting of say 25ft and drop it in the path of an e-boat doing 40knts or there abouts can result in catastrophic damage, if not serious brown trousers for the crew!!
  12. AHC: Save a notorious flop

8 MM I think the script-conference needed to go in a different direction at some points. OTL... "Okay, we've established that our hero is a hardboiled private-eye who mostly investigates adultery cases." "That's the idea." "Alright. So what happens when he looks through the binoculars and...
  13. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

What Soviet front?, it is not there for another few months. At the moment after Africa is cleared the choice is only Greece or prepare for a continental invasion. So more reasons for staying in Greece.

Patton in Korea/MacArthur in the White House
    Threadmarks: Part IV, Chapter 32

...MacArthur contended, just wanted to continue Truman’s policy, and wasn’t Truman’s policy what had brought about Korea in the first place? *** MacArthur did not show any particular emotion upon hearing that Stevenson had been nominated. As far as he was concerned, winning the Republican...

WI: A Danish Prince crowned in Sweden

I am not all that familiar with Danish/Swedish history, but maybe if Denmark was invaded and under occupation the Danish royal family could flee to Sweden and a Prince could be crowned King of Denmark in Sweden that way. NVM: Just saw it had to be a Danish Prince crowned King of Sweden.
  18. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

I see that we have reached to point where victory in North Africa is possibly at hand but no clear idea where to deploy all this army etc to real effect. I suspect that this is part of Churchill’s Greek hobbyhorse. At least there it can find someone to fight. Otherwise you have giant steps into...
  19. AHQ/AHC: Ideal modern tank design?

Is weight not very much tied to logistics and where you will operate? Ie if you really only care about fighting defensively in a first world nation with bridges mostly built for 2 large heavy container carrying trucks (40ish tons each) to pass each other than you might be happy to keep a very...
