  1. "If They Want It They Can Have It": Ulster's Tragedy.

"Did Harold Wilson actually say that" "He always denied it in public but yes, yes he did say that. I heard him say it" (Gerry Fitt 1984") Whereas in the course of human affairs history has shown that it may become necessary for a people to resolve the political affiliations which have...
  2. Prince Waldemar of Prussia made King of Nepal in 1845

Thats interesting so there is a possibility that post ww2 nepal will be a haven for nazi?
  3. Planet of Hats

    Alternate History Combat Aircraft

The aerodynamics were a fine idea; the McDonnell design won out largely because North American would've needed a couple of billion to set up a new production line, while McDonnell had one ready and had a perfectly good design to go with it. The T-10's problems weren't with its geometry, they...
  4. Moonlight in a Jar: An Al-Andalus Timeline

What's going on in Japan? Any Andalusi that arrived in Kyoto?
  5. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

If they could send the 2nd AIF with say more divisions and a tank brigades worth of armour and another division worth of trained troops with educated officers to beef up the barrier locations (Ambon Timor etc), extra equipment for the Dutch and another wing of fighters and another bomber wing as...
  6. Which leader had the biggest cult of personality: Stalin or Hitler?

Hitler Stalin saw himself as a Marxist-Leninist, Marx and Lenin also had cults of personality surrounding them during Stalin's lifetime. Hitler was a Nazi, and Nazism was 'Hitler-ism', he was the ideological founder of the movement, he was the Marx, Engels and Lenin of Nazism all rolled into one.
  7. What if the US found actually found Nuke’s in Iraq?

Which actually leads to an interesting question: How could they ever have proven that they didn't have them at all? Especially because it's only logical that they wouldn't give access to everything. If only for security reasons.
  8. French Civil War

IDK, Italy might be hostile to Germany assuming they are fascist and anti-Austrian.
  9. The Forge of Weyland

Speaking of which, I'm curious what the next generation of British Tank will look like - and what they'll be armed with.
  10. Ottoman Empire embraces "Dualism"?

I have often liked the idea of a modern Egypt re-embracing Coptic Christianity as a mark of national identity vs Arab colonial overlords.
  11. Is civilizational centrism inevitable?

What do you mean? Yup. Think the bit about the "cultural inferiority" was buried in the Map Thread where it was posted, though.
  12. Kaiserreich: Legacy of the Weltkrieg

April 1st was two days ago.
  13. What if the US found actually found Nuke’s in Iraq?

You cannot fid what you cannot access. I doubt Iraq had nukes, and I think the Bush team overstated their case, but inspectors not having found them in the lead up to the war is not in and of itself sufficient proof that they never existed. Inspectors can only go where they are granted access.
  14. Was the Arab Expansion Inevitable, and Can It Happen Without A United Faith?

Posing the question as "Is Arab expansionism independent of their adopting Islam" I think ignores materialist cause and effect. I believe Islam was a system largely called into being by the general discontents of the age and place Mohammed lived in. I think it is quite likely that if Islam...
  15. The New Order: Last Days of Europe - An Axis Victory Cold War Mod for HoIIV

Also, they would have some way to know that, which is that in a total victory scenario OFN forces occupy Huttig's Ostafrika and learn about all of the nonsense that he's been getting up to there. It wouldn't take a genius to figure out that a pro-OFN ceasefire would leave him to keep murdering...
  16. What if the US found actually found Nuke’s in Iraq?

If Iraq had nukes, the UN inspection team would have found them, and the US would have gone in with a lot more support than lapdog Blair....
  17. Best accidental president

    David Rice Atchison.
  18. The New Order: Last Days of Europe - An Axis Victory Cold War Mod for HoIIV

I mean, looking at RL tankies...yeah, they absolutely would do that. In any case, the L-NPP and Yockeys are pretty irrelevant in the early 1960s, so why would you be making any political calculations based on them? It would be like Johnson making decisions about whether or not to intervene in...
  19. Treaty Ports (Ireland) in WW2

Given that’s what happened in WW1 its possible that Cobh could be used, it depends on whether or not having Cobh/Ireland in the war means for the convoy routing. With the ports and potentially more air cover would the routes stay to the South of Ireland or still go North?
  20. The Professor
