  1. A Thorn In The Rose: A War Of The Roses TL

So, short of an immaculate conception.... Where there is a will, there is a way. Margaret is conniving enough to get pregnant somehow.

A Thorn In The Rose: A War Of The Roses TL

Poor Henry, hopefully things don't go horribly wrong and this plan of his works. Great update!
  3. Defeated Austria inside German Empire: Kingdom or Archduchy?

You also simply have the alternative of adopting another name than Austria for the kingdom and simply keep Austria as a Archduchy under that kingdom, as example the Kingdom of Carinthia, this have the benefit of keeping Austria unique while giving Austria the same prestige as Bavaria and Saxony
  4. A Thorn In The Rose: A War Of The Roses TL

Every chapter about Henry makes me feel more sorry for him. He would really have been better off going to a monastery or the like than engaging in all these politics that he just isn't suited for. But then again, if he had been lucky enough to have good influences around him, he would actually...

    Threadmarks: Chapter 123: Queenly Concern

Chapter 123: Queenly Concern April, 1460 “Why did you name Somerset as regent?” Margaret demanded. She could tolerate a lot, but such a clear slight on her own honour and capabilities was not something she could handle. “Because he is the closest male relative available.” Henry replied...

  7. Keeping the British Liberal Party flag flying high

The Liberals held the marginal seats of Richmond (Surrey). Southampton Test, and Torquay with the Tories in second place in all three constituencies. In Islington East the Liberal majority over Socialist Labour fell from 13.2% to 1.9%. The Liberals have held Oldham East and Oldham West...

A Time For Greatness: The Alternate Presidency of John F. Kennedy and beyond

Nice year roundup- 1962 was a busy one. Wonder if JFK could be persuaded to link NASA’s budget as a % of GDP therefore removing the back and forth negotiations and letting them get on with their work? How’s computing developing? No unsuccessful Dallas trips in 63 please!

  11. Defeated Austria inside German Empire: Kingdom or Archduchy?

In North Germanic language a similar split exist and the two word is simply used as synonyms, yes it’s a unusual way to use it, but language are adaptive and you already have the precedence with Kaisertum.
  12. Do you agree with this assessment of pre-gunpowder armies?

Sure, but the fact that dumb commanders can throw away their advantages doesn't mean that those advantages don't exist. Nobody doubts that 19th-century European armies had a huge advantage over native opponents, Little Bighorn and Isandlwana notwithstanding.
  13. Have Space 1999 be more successful

Do we still get Dick Spanner?
  14. DWBI: What if Tomb Raider was successful?

I was reading an interview about Eidos Interactive during the 90s, and how the failure of the Tomb Raider games for the PSX led to them refocusing their efforts on the newly-acquired Crystal Dynamics. As we all know, Gex and Legacy of Kain became household names, with Gex 4 being the whole...
  15. No G harder then Kenny G

So I've been reviewing some primary source material ( ) and I have to ask if this is really Christian Rap? It looks a fair bit more like Muscular Christian Rap than the dreck pushed as Christian Rock. I like Hammer as the softer conscience than Kenny G's hard line on hard love, and that he's...
  16. What if NAZI Germany didn’t build battleships?

To get another 100 U-boats you need change the way boats are made (not prefab at this stage), not have the crews involved in construction (Donitz directive), hugely increase lead and copper production, 200 diesels (plus spares) and find high quality personal, as general ship's crew are not all...
  17. Have Space 1999 be more successful

I did start plotting a timeline in which Season 3 of Space 1999 isn't made, but in the eighties in lieu of Terrahawks and Space Precinct, Anderson launches a new series called Deep Space Odyssey. This would have built upon Space 1999 in the same way that it had upon UFO, and combined some of...
  18. Why was Hitler so charismatic?

In most non-FPTP with low threshold countries 38% of the vote are legendary, most parties who get so many votes pretty much becomes the party which define nation political for decades.
  19. Defeated Austria inside German Empire: Kingdom or Archduchy?

I guess so. It just looks wrong for me with Austria though, since you barely ever find Kaiserreich Östereich. Combined with the fact that there was never a Kingdom title associated with Austria, it just does not look right to me. Do you think Königtum is a realistic alternative, or is it a too...
