  1. Let There be Peace in the Great European Plain: A Story of Teutons and Slavs in 19th Century.

My guess is the Russo-Japanese war ends up being part of TTL’s Great War. That plus potential central Asian and Caucasus fronts (against Britain and the Ottomans respectively) will leave Russian participation in Europe much smaller than OTL, with Germany being the primary combatant there.

These Fair Shores: The Commonwealth of New England

Right on the money Given how cities were named, there is no one thing that would have mandated they take the name of a local indigenous population and apply it to a city. I do not have information on Aspen's newspaper, unfortunately. The United States does not have a National Parks system...
  4. Alternate Aircraft of Nations

A trick which was employed apparently by Meteor pilots was to raise the undercarriage while the aircraft was still taking off, hence "provoking" the aircraft into flying. Apparently an RAF pilot tried the same trick with the Clyde powered machine and sheared several inches off the propellers.
  5. How long could Nazi Germany delay its defeat?

The "stab in the back" by itself made unconditional surrender , or something close to it, inevitable not talking about everything else. When you go around saying "you didn't really lose last time" and start a war partly because of it your opponent is going to want to make it clear to you that...
  6. For Want of a Word – Stolypin endures

Decided to fill in a base world map of FWoaW after the peace treaties are signed. I assumed that for outside of Europe and the ME, that the peace would be identical to OTL's. For Europe I used the map provided by @Stenkarazin as a guideline to draw the national borders. Anyways, hope you guys...
  7. Keeping the British Liberal Party flag flying high

The Liberals have held Nottingham Central, with only a slight reduction in their majority over Conservative from 6.8% to 6.0%. We have just heard that Socialist Labour have taken East Ham North from the Liberals with a majority of 3.1%. The previous Liberal majority was 3.5%. ` Socialist...

Threadmarks: Retreat and Recriminations in the German Civil War

Retreat and Recriminations in the German Civil War The military junta’s defeat in northern Germany was, on the surface, disastrous for the White war effort. After the fall of Paderborn on 29th April, effective control of many Deutsches Heer divisions along with the Freikorps and other...
  9. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

To be honest, I have absolutely zero problem seeing a wank, as long as it is well supported with facts and logic. I love this TL because it has been well supported. What improvements come, come because they are built logically out of what has come before. If Singapore holding can be logically...
  10. East first! Europe after a German / CP victory in 1916

You are probably right about the sensibility of A-H leadership. By the way, I did not mention the date on which the peace treaty was concluded, only for the armistice (September 20, 1916). Let's say the peace treaty is concluded a few months later (December 24, 1916, the war is over at...

Why are the Gévaudan and the Auvergne part of the HRE, those would be of no use, as well as the Vélay.
  12. A Time For Greatness: The Alternate Presidency of John F. Kennedy and beyond

The language on "competent counsel" was taken straight from from JFK's IOTL State of the Union Address. It's also worth noting that Kennedy had a habit of using the term "man" to refer to all people (ex: "the freedom of man", "man can be as big as he wants" etc) at times for whatever reason...

  15. What if NAZI Germany didn’t build battleships?

It's not an either or situation, one of the big things that got ASW going properly was integrating the whole thing together. Aircraft themselves are are limited by range (or having a carrier nearby), however that also meant the U-boats were restricted where they could operate without looking up...

  17. WI: Japan don't attack Philippines/Hawaii in 1941: how does US react

Wrong, the Two Ocean Navy Act passed in 1940 already authorized 18 aircraft carriers and only 7 battleships. All those Essex class carriers were already in the process of being built. The longer the wait the closer to completion some of those carriers are.
  18. Plausibility Check: Post USSR Russia with worlds 3rd biggest economy

No chance. There aren't enough Russians. Maybe if most of the USSR (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Central Asia, maybe parts of the Caucuses) remained territorially together (...CIS) the resulting Union would be able to surpass Japan eventually. But Russia is too small and in too bad of a condition...
  19. What if NAZI Germany didn’t build battleships?

based on what they saw OTL, but what they will see here will be different right? Slips were filled based on OTL perceived threats, but if the perceived threats change, so will the response to them. Why no more (greater) British reaction? I agree there's no guarantee the intel will be correct...
