The New Order: Last Days of Europe - An Axis Victory Cold War Mod for HoIIV

Yes and no. It forced them to moderate and ally with the rest of the resistance movements. If they won they would have had to purge everyone else and then themselves as is tradition.

Alternative History Armoured Fighting Vehicles Part 3

I am afraid I must offer a correction, and it is my fault since the Wikipedia page specified that 'Killer' is an M4A2. Ah well, now I have a spare A3 105 to play with.
  3. For All Mankind (AH Tv series at Apple TV)

Lol, but Buzz Aldrin will be very willing to punch anyone who doesn't think he's real! "Who's a ghost now, asshole!" He will sell t-shirts.
  4. Middle East without Christianity or Islam

Well yeah, there definitely wasnt a political identity or a single Hindu identity, but the fact that they shared the same philosophy was recognised. A jew and a Muslim might recognise in each other points of similar philosophy while still saying that they're fundamentally different identities...

    The Tudor Rose over Brittania

I just read about his report boasting about being one of the figures who brought about the killing of Irish women and children by the Tudor English forces and for it to be seen as acceptable by the establishment.

Dawn of the Dead (2004) 15 years after the outbreak...

I think your interest in saying "we've got to figure out the pop culture!" in these apocalyptic scenarios overlooks that so many people will be dead and thinking of simply trying to survive to worry about this stuff. No one is going to have the luxury or time to craft urban legends. There's not...

The New Order: Last Days of Europe - An Axis Victory Cold War Mod for HoIIV

So, basically the London Uprising failing catastrophically allowed more moderate groups to take up the torch of resistance?
  8. The Forge of Weyland

Besides, you don't need to apologise for giving the Grand Old Lady some more enemies to sink her teeth into.
  9. What if NAZI Germany didn’t build battleships?

What about the cost in hard cash ? plus, I guess, a few thousand dockyard workers who can be put to other jobs ... Then there's the steel ... and fuel oil that has to be allocated/reserved ... and guns, shells and all the other stuff that gets built outside the shipyard ... oh, and I suppose...
  10. Fumbling through the Wilderness - a TL from 1918
    Threadmarks: New faces, new challenges.

1920 began inconspicuously. After the scrapes and skirmishes of the previous year, a more gradual recovery set in for the Liberal cause, but not always to their direct benefit. In the Ashton-under-Lyne by-election on the 31st January 1920, they came third but siphoned enough votes to let Labour...

The New Order: Last Days of Europe - An Axis Victory Cold War Mod for HoIIV

Uh, no. TBH if there was any compromise it would be the Communist revolutionaries keeping any other resistance movements around at all.
  12. What-if SMG for late 1930s and on

You need the extra power for useful range if you want to replace rifles. If you want to use a mix of rifles and SMG and you stay with convencional rounds you have to rely on the rifle caliber weapons for most of the over 100m work. In WW2 the Soviets did just that, and relied in team work...

  14. What-if SMG for late 1930s and on

Interesting thanks. In the context of this thread, in a world where the typical service rifle was a bolt action service rifle firing a full power cartridge I can potentially see some nations seeing value in such a sub machine gun.

    Bush Presidency without Cheney?

What exactly changes for the 2000's if Bush chooses Frist as his VP instead of Cheney?
  16. Vietnam, a unwinnable war?

Same chap who invited the widow Jackie Kennedy to visit Ankor Wat with him as personal tour guide in '67 (presumably the tour would end up in one of the 60 odd films he directed and acted in)

    WI/AHC: Viceroyalty of Rio Grande

What if, between the 16th Century to 18th Century, Viceroyalty of New Spain was split in two? The Viceroyalty of New Spain in the South, with it's capital at Mexico City, and the Viceroyalty of Rio Grande, with it's capital in Monterrey. (Map is inaccurate, a bit late 1821, but this is the...
  18. What-if SMG for late 1930s and on

I am kind of wondering if we are aiming for too powerful a round here? Most guns that use even the 9x25mm (such as the Danuvia 45M) seem to be near the weight of a rifle. If you are looking for a light gun that you can use at short range (which seems more the profile of an SMG) I kind of think...
  19. The Forge of Weyland

I'm not certain that's accurate..... I think in the West we tend to see events through a US perspective and that the attack on Pearl Harbor was the first indication of Japanese ill-intent. Just based on memory from readings long ago, the Japanese had made very clear their expansionist...
  20. Soviets beat Northrop with F-20 idea?

It's only a market if you get paid. Basically the USSR gave weapons to it's War Pac allies and regarded them more as a source of manpower than as independent actors. In that context making a fighter just for their use rather than just giving them standard soviet material doesn't make much sense...
