  1. Could the USSR work well enought on its orthodox form to be a pleasant place in modern day?

What do you want to say? That most people didn't? You know that's laughable.

    WI/AHC: Viceroyalty of Rio Grande

Wow, @EnvarKadri, you certainly thought this through, and I’m thankful for that To answer one of your questions, about the elites of Rio Grande, it’s mostly Criolle descendent population. The more north into Arizona and Neveda and Texas, lots of natives like the Apache, Navajo and Comanche But...
  3. Effects of both Hurricane & Spitfire designed to carry Oerlikon FF 20mm cannon from start

If I may. Oerlikon-designed cannons were firing from open bolt. Meaning that the time between 'allowing' the gun to fire and the actual firing is too variable. Firing also commenced before the round was fully chambered - that was cutting the peak recoil by a good amount. Cannons that fired from...
  4. As Dreamers Do: American Magic Redux

I wonder what's up with the Disney family?
  5. Could the USSR work well enought on its orthodox form to be a pleasant place in modern day?

You don’t need to simulate that scale. You bundle up a bunch of goods into close substitutes and let human ingenuity deal with local factors within fudge. Or you specifically don’t do that for historical political reasons and eat massive structural inefficiency outside of primary and secondary...
  6. America Be Watching With The Popcorn: A Sino-Soviet War TL

Eventually they are going to get annexed, if China recover its dignity.
  7. WI: The Enterprise completes its five year mission (Star Trek survives for 5 seasons)

Have Saavik in TMP in place of Chief DiFalco (aka Mrs Shatner) as a relief Bridge Officer, similar to the initial use of Worf in TNG, taking on consoles when the lead pops off to do something. You don't even need to properly background her, cite her as Spocks officer trainee, give her as much...
  8. Dunkirk Disaster causes Spain and Soviet Union to join Axis.

How does he get the bomb? Aryan "physics" can't produce one. Does he buy one from the Americans?
  9. Could the USSR work well enought on its orthodox form to be a pleasant place in modern day?

Yes, if you are trying to plan out every single possible end product and middle product for the entire economy- but Gosplan didn't do that (because they couldn't). The method of material balances was far more rough adjust than fine and would have/did benefit from advances in calculation and...
  10. WI: The Enterprise completes its five year mission (Star Trek survives for 5 seasons)

Oh yeah, that was in 2003. Unfortunately deadly accidents have occurred with NASA over the years, starting with Apollo 1
  11. It's A Long Way To Nagasaki: The Anglo-Japanese War

It's either that or Yugoslavia with Italy and Bulgaria. Which is an easier conquest in hindsight
  12. Dunkirk Disaster causes Spain and Soviet Union to join Axis.

Based on occupation noted in the OP's profile (EDIT: I'm an attorney and wannabee historian), there may not be much purpose in engaging with the individual. See the following from a treatise 'Logic for Lawyers':
  13. Effects of both Hurricane & Spitfire designed to carry Oerlikon FF 20mm cannon from start

Tony suggested the FFL, a 'midfield' 20mm cannon offred by Oerlikon. The FFS was the heavy weight, as heavy as the Hispano. Oerlikon was offering the belt-fed versions of it's earlier cannons in the early 1930s to the RAF, RAF was not interested.
  14. A Hippie in the House of Mouse (Jim Henson at Disney, 1980)

The irony of Prince of Darkness ITTL is that it's pretty much the same film as OTL, they're just tacking "Smart Slasher" on top of it. And yea, Standard Issue Frankenstein Story in the end. See my reply in the earlier post. Jason vs. NIMBYs made me laugh. That would be a funny SNL spoof.
  15. Effects of both Hurricane & Spitfire designed to carry Oerlikon FF 20mm cannon from start

Just so I ask, do you happen to know what part of the Oerlikon design precludes synchronization? In a butterfly in my head, I've always wondered about a Canadian-spec Spitfire as the basis of a Canadian pre-war commitment specifically to air defense to the Commonwealth (in place of ground...

For All Mankind (AH Tv series at Apple TV)

And most likely US and Russia will make things much much chillier. Little reason for either side to back down.
  17. An Imperial Match: Anne Boleyn marries Charles V

Charles‘ wedding can not be a slight to a princess to which he was NOT engaged and who, while proposed to him, was never taken in consideration by him. Likely ATL Manuel was less insistent in proposing Isabella to Charles or had not tied the two matches (so either both or none) or simply Eleanor...
  18. Better 20th Century for France?

Neatly illustrating why France should't have fought in the first place - No outcome was going to wind up being favorable. Those two are mutually incompatible. No, it doesn't - Nothing short of the dismemberment of Germany could have achieved that, and that was never going to happen. But US...
  19. WI/AHC: Viceroyalty of Rio Grande

Another thing about Texas. I compared them to Gran Colombia but they have some advantages and disadvatages at the time of the independence wars. OOH they are a lot closer to Mexico, a stronghold for the spanish crown as long the rulers of Madrid arent liberals. The rebelion in Mexico was a lot...
