    Top Locomotives Never Built

@TheMann What are some other railroad lines for GTELs to run on in addition to the UP Overland, SP Sunset, EL mainline, and ATSF Transcon? So far, I have thought of the Chessie's ex-B&O Akron Division, the GM&O mainlines from Chicago to New Orleans and/or Kansas City, the Seaboard Air Line's...
  2. AHC/WI: land focused Netherlands

I don't know if this counts, but if there was some sort of territorial resettlement of Dutch people inland, you could have the "inland Dutch Empire". Not really in the territory of the Netherlands though.
  3. WI Germany breaks Typex code after Dunkirk

What if German code breakers were able breaks UK Typex codes after Dunkirk, from the captured Typex cipher machine instead of giving up Because not provided with extra resources or manpower? How would this have changed world war two? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typex
  4. TL-191: After the End

Yes, he is alive, and approaching 90 years of age. Reynolds is generally remembered fondly by the US public in 2021, given that during his administration in the 1980s, the national economy enjoyed a sustained period of growth, driven partially by the first widespread application of computing...
  5. AHC: Largest possible Finnish-American population

There are a lot of Finnish-ancestry folks in the Pacific Northwest. I see Suomi organization halls all over the place in Oregon (ditto similar organizations like the 'Sons of Norway' for neighboring countries). Maybe the answer is for the Finnish diaspora in the US to multiply faster organically?
  6. AHC: Largest possible Finnish-American population

An alternative, earlier version might be to have Sweden as the oppressive overlord instead of Russia. This is more unlikely (I think) but it would result in an earlier population of Finns in America.
  7. Could Dunkirk have gotten "worse" for the Germans?

I guess one 'worse' is that the British manage to evacuate most of their equipment as wel as the men ... so, need a major port ... Calais is not too far (or Ostend ?) == can the Brits manage a retreat on one of those in time for their kit to be lifted off ? [makes a very big difference re: 2pdr...

    AHC: Largest possible Finnish-American population

Then, I'd imagine you'd need something else to cause emigration on a massive scale :) Bad harvests for a few years, too many people and not enough work, ie same motivations that prompted many Swedes and Norwegians to migrate. I don't think though that that would get you to the levels you're...
  9. WI: Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar dies in 1792

Well, I'm not an expert, but I would think that a Shiraz capital, combined with an at least semi-independent Afsharid Khorasan, would shift the balance of power pretty far south.

    Alternate Electoral Maps III

Switched out every blue state for three red states (With equal value) on the 2020 results until you couldn't anymore?

    Alternate Electoral Maps III

Idk but it looks like something that could have happened during Reconstruction
  13. WI: Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar dies in 1792

Would there be any major differences from the Iranian capital staying in Shiraz (the Zand center of power) instead of being moved to Tehran?
  14. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

The RAF could have provided air cover! No need for a deck.

AHC stabilize Mexico in starting in 1820s

And since its often forgotten, this was not universally popular in the US, even among the more expansionist Democratic party. Hell the reason Mexico got such a generous peace deal (and yes, the treaty was generous overall) was that Polk sent an anti-war Democrat, who said, "My feeling of shame...
  17. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

Mm, if Operation Excess went of as per OTL, I can't see that the Bismarck's rampage would be changed. What might get changed is that HMS Formidable manages to avoid getting bombed during Greece/Crete, which would allow her to be transferred to Singapore along with the Repulse and Prince of Wales...
  18. No Kriegsmarine cruisers or modern destroyers

In the mid-30s? Nobody's going to bet on solely aircraft in maritime strike operations. And in any case Goering being Goering isn't going to let it happen anyway. Further, the resources and personnel don't translate. Shipyard personnel aren't terribly useful in aviation plants, for example...

Thank You so much for taking my suggestion into account.
  20. What If...Scotland beat England in that Euro 2000 Play-Off?

I'm honestly surprised Smith stayed at Everton so long TBH. But him leaving sooner could possibly butterfly away David Moyes as Everton manager too, as I imagine the summer of 2000 would be too early for him to replace Smith then. Depends whether Smith's replacement ITTL would last beyond March...
