WI: Franklin Pierce wins the 1864 Democratic nomination?

During the 1864 Democratic Convention, former President Franklin Pierce's name was entered into the nomination and won the support of many delegates until he declined interest, but what if he accepted the draft attempt and ran as the Democratic presidential nominee that year? Would he have done...

  4. WWII: German Victory in Battle of Britain, could USSR win alone?

I'm not disputing that the Soviets made more tanks, aircraft and artillery. My point is that the LL aid made them able to focus on precisely those things. That's why the GDP metric is a better (complimentary) indicator since it covers the whole economy. What use is a cannon without shells? A...

Romanov Ascendant: What if the Soviet Union survived?

On the note of 'creating' a character, I just wanted to create a vehicle that would have represented people who did exist, but due to a lack of information cannot really name names. There were a lot of women in the GDR, climbing up the party bureaucracy, who had were born in the baby boom years...

Cissies - my local Ayrshire chippy has as its speciality 'Blaggis and chips'. Blaggis being a mix of black pudding and haggis and then deep fried in batter.

He's our Trotsky analogue, which means he flees to Mexico. In Hearts Of Iron IV he can become leader of Mexico.

Gonzales is an...interesting choice. Ostap Bender is already planned. Three Amigos is set in 1916, El Guapo I imagine being the Pancho Villa analogue but he could be replaced. Though one of the three amigos could have become a leader.

Well there's actually a clause in the constitution that exempts people from other places that migrated before the war into the US and became citizens, for example if the Marquis de Lafayette had become a citizen he could have become president.

Aug 21, 2215 hours, SS Tees, Trevor Channel, Barclay Sound. “How about that?” said the captain of the Tees. “I have a ship again. Deckhands! Cast off from Saxonia. Bring up the steam! I want to put some distance between us and that great sinking hulk before she capsizes on us!” Tees’ crewmen...

"...the Labor Wars of the West became a massive headache for Hearst, at first a distraction from his adventures in New York high society but by the middle of 1892 a genuine crisis he could no longer ignore as miners at Hearst facilities, both mines and smelters, joined up with the WFM and began...

This was back in 1994. I also help out at a barbeque at my boss's house in Whiteabbey and I started giving out goats cheese wrapped in vines leaves and other such fancy French food. after 10 minutes people started to bang the knives and forks on the table saying where are the burgers and sausages.

OK TBH I'm going to defer to posters like MONISYRRUC here as they know way more then me, however I'd start by recommending this post that kind out lines some of the issues the KM had in Norway even with it's less than ideal destroyer cover,

Threadmarks: Note on the Use of Racist Language following

As I have done once before, I feel I should give a warning that the following chapter contains racist language. One of the non POV characters refers to some Chinese stokers as “Chinamen.” This would be the language of the day. I did not set out to write this part of the scene, but as I was...

    1. No, as Hamilton was in the United States prior to the revolution and thus being foreign born was not relevant. 2. Yes, it was New York, on my 1804 wikibox I forgot to edit out the South Carolina, that was my mistake, sorry for the confusion.
