  1. (military) technological progress without WW 2

Something I'd forgotten about is heavily affected: hot rodding in the U.S. (& Canada). The Army (& AAF) brought lots of men together who could share ideas & experience. It also taught lots of them skilled use of precision machinery, which they applied to their cars postwar, making them much...

When could an independent/unified Ireland happened?

Why would Glyndwr even exist TTL? While Ireland could be more difficult than Scotland a lot depends on how united Ireland is, under what conditions it has united, and whether it's even friendlier to Scotland than England too. This applies to Wales too who have nearly as many references fighting...

When could an independent/unified Ireland happened?

He did, he was not recognised as the legitimate High King of Ireland. His later life proved himself to be a capable diplomat not as good as Brian or Murchad but still capable.

Deaths from Irish potatoe famine mitigated

laissez-faire economics only become a problem after the famine started.
  8. How much different would cancelling operation Barbarossa make on WW2

I'm pretty sure it's the holocaust which defines German atrocities. And that will happen regardless if there's an eastern front or not.

When could an independent/unified Ireland happened?

But wouldn't England have a much harder situation regarding Ireland. We need to take into consideration that Ireland had a higher population than Scotland. We need to take into consideration that Ireland and Scotland could create a large enough army to be a thorn in the side of the English...

    Map Thread XX

3 maps based on a (kind of unfinished) small council list I made. 1st map showing the main subdivisions of Westeros. Which is basically the same as canon with three differences. First one: House Dayne of Starfall are Lord Paramounts of Dorne, House Martell only has its direct territories...

How much different would cancelling operation Barbarossa make on WW2

There is also the issue of mass nuking Germany (occupied territories) without Barbarossa would make the Allies the moral evil to many in Western Europe/internationally (despite the evil actions of Germany). It was the east front that defined German atrocities, without it instead there is...
  13. AHC - Boost production of Saffron spice outside of Iran

...costs. Without making it more expensive in Iran (which basically means making labor more expensive, because you're not going to change the climate*) you would have to make it cheaper elsewhere, which is difficult because everywhere else already has cheap labor. *in a predictable enough way...
  14. DBWI: Carthage doesn't convert to Judaism?

Are the Jews still present in large numbers throughout Carthage? Prior to conversion their relationship with the polytheist ruling class was complicated to say the least so if they remain in a pagan Carthage I anticipate a very restive population. But to prevent them from being there entirely...

When could an independent/unified Ireland happened?

I'm not entirely sure that's strictly probable considering the size and location of Ireland with respect to England and the latter's growing dominance. Not strictly impossible you understand but like Scotland found with the Auld Alliance with France a constant threat isn't always the best option.
  16. Germany and Japan Unite!

Without Barbarossa, and using the MFPs and Seibel ferries and JU52s not committed to the eastern front you can keep one extra Panzer division in attack supply, OTL German light craft used Mersa Matruh a few times in 42 for example. Is one extra Panzer division plus some extra air power enough...

When could an independent/unified Ireland happened?

Eh, maybe. Possibly. At best you're getting a slightly stronger High Kingdom similar to Scotland before David. I still think you'd get Norman interference which then drags in the English King. So spinning off the Plantagenets might be most likely. An interesting set up could be Margaret the...
