  1. Armored trains post ww2

What kind of protection do the trains that transport nukes across country get?
  2. America Be Watching With The Popcorn: A Sino-Soviet War TL

Good update. Seems Nixon is doing all he can to cement his place as one of the US’ best presidents. Time will tell how successful he is though.
  3. WI the Enterprise in Pearl Harbor?

Of course, it's not very deep at the mooring, so a lot of the crew wouldn't even be underwater.
  4. A7 Corsair II kills the A10 program

Way. A-7E have had one engine with 15000 lbf, the A-10 have had 2x9065=18130 lbf of thrust. Aerodynamics of A-7 were better. So there is more fuel required for A-10 vs. A-10 for same range. Two engines of similar technology will be more expensive to maintain than one engine, even if that one...

The Revenge of the Crown : An Alternate 1812 and Beyond.

    Looks more like Mexican-Native Wars

The Revenge of the Crown : An Alternate 1812 and Beyond.

The USA is using native Americans as patsies?
  7. Defeat in WWI: Will France go radical or not?

...them just as much as the Germans. It may or may not reach toward neutral America, too, but at least, it's not going to be a cause for a turn *toward* America. That's probably enough to be a source of increased antisemitism in France. Not on the scale of the Nazis, but it's not like France...

    Threadmarks: A Sneak-peak

    A small sneakpeak. Any predictions?
  9. WI/AHC : Stable, long lasting Rome.

The Chinese did develop a strong hereditary rule early in history, it was mostly when things were going bad that coups and rebellions happened. Rome never had clear rules of succession which hurt particularily in later periods of Rome

WI: Alsace-Lorrena is not taken by the Prussians?

Again: I understand that, but it doesn't eliminate the fact that it is ironic and unnatural. It is as if HRE (the Champion of Christianity) allied with the Ottoman Empire (the Champion of Islam). It is as if the United States (the nation that led to the Independence of the New World) ally...
  11. A Hippie in the House of Mouse (Jim Henson at Disney, 1980)

Danke shoen. There's a third pun in there too. Bilingual. You'll find out soon. What, irony in this TL? Maybe a little... If he had Katzenberg make an all-out Trek spoof, it might be mean spirited rather than affectionate parody, which worked amazingly well for Shrek, actually. Shrek, or...
  12. Prolonging the Futility: A WW2 European TL

The UK in WW1 was able to largely restrict imports to neutral nations to prevent that kind of onwards trade - why would the UK and US combined be unable to do as much to Italy now?
  13. Horse mounted infantry for COIN

Best to think of this as potential benefits in this role, I've got: 1). horses are somewhat less intrusive in terms of big scary military machines. This can be a factor when you are not trying to scare the shit out of the local population / win hearts and minds 2). there is some terrain horse...
  14. Horse mounted infantry for COIN

Fair enough but most nations that are in a position to need to be conducting COIN ops would have both the ability and finances to operate higher tier equipment such as helicopters The 'underdog' generally is one requiring the COIN ops in the first place and then even the most basic of todays...
  15. How much different would cancelling operation Barbarossa make on WW2

if they are not going to invade the USSR immediately, number 1 their "oil corps" will be tromping around Europe and might develop some of the oilfields we often mention here, Matzen in Austria being a likely prospect? number two, they are not going to be as interested in Romania as a "source"...

Stupid Luck and Happenstance, Thread III

I've always pictured Wim as being something like the character Richard Hendricks from Silicon Valley, so of course, he would be a Computer Programmer.
  17. A7 Corsair II kills the A10 program

No way it's easier and cheaper to fuel and maintain, the A-10 has consistently been the best US manned combat aircraft in those 2 categories. It would have to be even cheaper to fly than an F-16 in order to beat the A-10.
  18. WI: Iraq invades Saudi Arabia?

Saddam can't move his troops fast enough to prevent the US from intervening. He could drive to the oil fields and wreck them but he can't hold them. All he gets is his frontline divisions crippled by US air strikes on the way there and in the retreat. Just like the OTL "Highway of Death"
