  1. A 'smarter' NATO cartridge strategy 1950-1980?

The horse at 1000 yards was a common requirement for rifle and machine gun calibres at that time and is indicative of how armys thought they were going to fight - ie as company's stood 2 deep etc WW2 experience (and I would argue infantry combat in much of WW1) showed that most fighting took...

'Sanity options' for the Italian army, 1935-42

In addition to...? https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/category/ww2-italian-at-weapon/ Comments. The synergy of terrain, weather, industrial materials, economics and production limitations and Benny the Moose lends itself to the idea that the Esercito might be instructed to create tank killer...
  3. Britain colonized

By this definition India wasn't colonised? Settler colonies aren't the only type of colony, surely. I think Indias a better bet than China because you did have relatively stable early modern states competing amongst each other where the elites invested tons of money into foreign trade anyway...

    Threadmarks: The bad TL

The Last Stand of Britannia. The fall of London was inevitable that is what every general was saying. The Goa’uld were stronger, faster, and they had more men. None told the men of the Guards Division; they had told the man that they were protecting but what was that supposed to make Emperor...
  6. 'Sanity options' for the Italian army, 1935-42

The M 11/39 would have been an acceptable tank for the Spanish Civil War in 1937 as a start point leading to an M 13/40 by 1938.

@QTXAdsy I remember from a documentary that the reason fewer people went to Disneyworld on opening day was because they remembered how much of a disaster Disneyland’s opening had been.
  10. A 'smarter' NATO cartridge strategy 1950-1980?

One trooper does not make the decision of what is or isn't going to be used as a service rifle. As I said, the F88 was not mentioned in my original post. Why not stick to the weapons I did mention and not introduce a furphy to the matter? The weapons I mentioned were the M14, the FN-FAL, the...

  13. AHC: Make the Romansh Switzerland's dominant ethnic group

The Wikipedia description sounds pretty much exactly the same as linguistic Romanisation elsewhere, as in Roman settlers (soldiers, merchants, bureaucrats) mingle with local people who accept Romanisation for their upward mobility. It isn't much different than in the rest of the Roman world...

    Portuguese Cabo- a TL

Yeah, that would be a good idea. Even if they didn't, Portugal had a much higher rate of emigration than The Netherlands ever did, and the VOC didn't originally intend The Cape to be a settler colony, so I'm sure that Portuguese Cabo would naturally draw in more settlers than the Dutch Cape...
