  1. WI: The Dutch East India Company reaches Korea, and at the same time, the Netherlands, which owns the VOC, immediately colonises the Korean Peninsula

If Korean ginseng was worth it, a couple of trading posts (or even one) would probably enough. Especialy if they can make a deal to keep the other Europeans out. Creating trading posts was generaly the Modus Operandi for the VOC. Colony creation, like what happened in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and...
  2. The Third Rome - A Byzantine Timeline

@Chernabog90 thank you kindly! @Whiteshore the name wasn't picked at random. 👀 @Oda Mehmed will indeed be the young Emperor's biggest of challenges. That'll be dealt with in these next few parts.
  3. How would a presidency of Lyndon Larouche look like?

@CalBear Is it permissible to discuss political positions taken by the LaRouche movement at the present time, or would that be current politics? The positions I'm thinking of don't directly involve any contemporary political leaders, and only broadly contemporary politics.

A POD in which Louis-Philippe does not usurp the Count of Chambord? I like that ! On the other hand, I don't think a surviving French monarchy would have allowed women on the throne, the Salic law was just too consubstantial with the royal mythology
  5. WI: US-German Lend-Lease?

The only way that Lend-Lease would reach the Nazis would be across the Pacífic to Vladivostock and the railroad to Germany so would end with Barbarrosa. Other than that you would have to deploy the USN in the Atlantic against the RN. If US flagged ships start convoying to help the Nazis the RN...

The (Global) South Rises: Collaborative TL

Pretty much, but also part of the reason they will constantly at odds with China. Also consider that this will fuel jealousy from Japan and other Asian nations...
  7. WI: The Dutch East India Company reaches Korea, and at the same time, the Netherlands, which owns the VOC, immediately colonises the Korean Peninsula

The big one I can think of is ginseng. It also grows in China and North America, but Korean ginseng has historically been considered the finest. If the Dutch try to do more than set up a few trading posts, the Koreans will go to the Qing for help.

What if Margaret Beaufort was born a boy?

That was the Duke of Exeter’s situation, maybe if Richard III usurps the throne he could overthrow him and “restore” Elizabeth of York jr.

WI: The Dutch East India Company reaches Korea, and at the same time, the Netherlands, which owns the VOC, immediately colonises the Korean Peninsula

The Dutch-Japanese and Dutch-Chinese conflicts would happen, so I guess the Dutch Republic would recruit some allies - the English are one of these but they have to reconcile with the Spanish and the French first. And by the way, as an off-topic, could you PLEASE check these threads and...

  11. how different would world war two be if the Soviets lost the Russian Civil war?

With a butterfly this big, WW2 as we know it would probably not happen.
  12. Texas Two-Step: Nixon nominates Connally as VP in 1973

Hey, I'm glad to hear your wife is doing well! I just wanted to say that I've been following this timeline for a while and I agree with the people above. This is some of the greatest writing on this website and I'm shocked that it wasn't up for a Turtledove this year. Can't wait to see what...
  13. WI: The Dutch East India Company reaches Korea, and at the same time, the Netherlands, which owns the VOC, immediately colonises the Korean Peninsula

The VOC was generaly only concerned in making lots and lots of money. OTL there even had been some very minor presence in Korea (the experiences of the Dutch with Korea were rather unpleasant). What would be the reason for the VOC to go to Korea and actualy invest in it? What can it get from...
  14. Western version of Seppuku

"Falling on your sword" was a general practice in the Hellene world, if you have it become more ritualized and ingrained in Roman society, it could survive.
  15. Galloway and the Plan of Union: A Saga of a British America

I don't really understand this. France has been in quite a debt and has only recently gone through a series of uprisings. Why would it pursue war against Britain? What is she to gain? Portugal is hardly a concern for France, they are a second-rate power at best. I think this needs a better casus...
