Don't drag political flame-bait out of Chat.
  2. AHC: kill as many people in WWII as possible

Outright mass death scenarios are not allowed here. There are a number of T/L here, including one of mine, that discuss a "worse" WW II, but not simply to max out the body count.
  3. Why were WWII Japanese Army losses so disproportionate?

Saipan would have been much worse. Luzon would have been much more costly if the IJN commander had followed orders and left Manila as an open city, taking his forces into the countryside as Yamashita had ordered. Guadalcanal would have been even more of a nightmare if the Marines would have been...
  4. Why were WWII Japanese Army losses so disproportionate?

To be fair, the Japanese were also considerably less willing to follow the Laws of Land Warfare, resulting in many document cases of false surrenders that ended with U.S. losses, far more than was common in the ETO.
  5. Why were WWII Japanese Army losses so disproportionate?

The Japanese Army was light infantry force with limited heavy weapons, limited funding (at least compared to the U.S.), limited manufacturing, and a horrific logistical challenge. The IJA's command had also not experienced serious ground combat against a true peer since the firepower revolution...

  9. A6M spec calls for high protection and heavy firepower

When you have personnel who take the radio OUT of their aircraft while flying off a carrier (thereby eliminating the ability to get a homing beacon) it reduce weight to goes WAY beyond want. The aircraft in post # 2 hits the fleet and the first thing that happens is half the armor gets ditched...

Plagiarism is one of the BIG no-no's here, right below the Eight Ways to Crash Land. It is a one strike offense. This is yours. Kicked for a week.
  16. WW2/Korea TF sustainable speed

The Doolittle TF managed a rate of advance of around 24 knots en route to the strike (winds in the northern Pacific tend to blow East to West and somewhat to the Southwest, roughly the direction the TF was heading). The trip back, after the Japanese were alerted and trying to chase them down...
  17. WW2/Korea TF sustainable speed

Speed, or more properly, rate of advance, for a carrier group, is largely impacted by wind direction. The carrier has to me moving into the wind to properly conduct flaght operations (a 15 mph headwind with 30 knots of ship speed provides a LOT of additional lift for heavily laden aircraft). If...
  18. Lusitania Doesn't Sink

Not really. Deserved indicates that the ship, and its passengers, deserved to die. I sincerely doubt that all 1,198 individuals aboard deserved a cold death in the North Atlantic.
  19. Lusitania Doesn't Sink

Deserved might be a little strong. Especially considering all the civilians aboard. Legitimate target to be sure.
