  2. HMS EAGLE in the Falklands (Story Only)
Threadmarks: CVF-90 Part 3 (Hawks, Hornets and Hawkeyes)

One of the reasons why aircraft carriers are considered by many nations to be the ultimate prestige items (after SSBN’s) is the fact that they are generally only operated by the select few truly top tear blue water navies of the world. The reason for this exclusivity is simple cost. Many smaller...

What if Karl von Habsburg’s coup in Hungary 1921 had succeeded?

French support then probably comes down to how much resistance Karl faces. I think Horthy probably wouldn’t accept the coup without a fight, he called the attempted one a “civil war” in otl.
  4. How would Native societies develop if they had horses and camels?

Sorry, but disagree with this. . Whilst in the Near East sheep and goats may have been domesticated before cattle it is equally possible that they were not. Water buffalos and yaks do not appear to have been domesticated by civilsations with smaller herbivores already domesticated.

What if Karl von Habsburg’s coup in Hungary 1921 had succeeded?

If they were sure France would not intervene? Yes Yugoslavia would attack in that case. It was a funny roundabout scenario. The French were unwilling to give any tacit aid to Karl unless Karl gave them proof that the Hungarian Parliament would support him and the Hungarian Parliament refused to...

I can't see it with the leaders who were in place at the time. Maybe if Kinnock had won in 1992, things might have been different?

  9. A 'smarter' NATO cartridge strategy 1950-1980?

Okay, thanks. Okay again - let NATO have one round for 'proper' MGs (whether it is the 7.62x51 the US Army wants, or keep the .30-06 - either of them works), one intermediate round for hand-held automatic weapons and LMGs, and one for pistols/SMGs.

What if Karl von Habsburg’s coup in Hungary 1921 had succeeded?

Im just going by what was said in the video, but it made it seem like France would support the Habsburg’s if they would bring stability. If Karl takes power through a violent coup and threathens the stability of all Central Europe I think French support would evaporate. Horthy also told Karl he...

What if Karl von Habsburg’s coup in Hungary 1921 had succeeded?

Would Yugoslavia risk war with one of the Great Powers of the World though? If France sends troops to aid Hungary that would be enough to get the Yugoslavs to back don.

What if Karl von Habsburg’s coup in Hungary 1921 had succeeded?

France had supported the idea of Habsburg restoration in Hungary to prevent a new communist revolution. If France says stop then the Czechs and Romanians will stop. The Austrians will gaffe but won't do anything, their economy and military was in ruins. The Yugoslavs are the big question. They...
  13. How would RFK handle Vietnam if he won in 1968, in your own personal opinion?

A Kennedy administration would be more open to the less conventional elements within the armed forces and could therefore try and fight a smarter war. They would still loose, but the political consequences of defeat, both internal and international, would be less serious.

What if Karl von Habsburg’s coup in Hungary 1921 had succeeded?

Just watched the great war’s video on this subject. It seems like the second attempted coup could have succeeded with a bit more luck and decisive action from it’s leaders. Let’s say it does, Karl and his supporters take Budapest and depose the sitting government. How does the international...
