  1. WI: The Soviet Union survived as a rump state in Central Asia?

There'd be some sort of legal clusterf*** for a few years while successor state rights/obligations are negotiated. I suspect the most likely outcome being the US bribing the USSR (which will be in desperate need of any source of money it can get much like OTL) to allow Russia to be considered a...

A Hippie in the House of Mouse (Jim Henson at Disney, 1980)

Guess that Xanax really helped him, huh? Well at least he's enjoying this one after the Ringworld series because god forbid he probably can't take another show that will give him childhood nightmares. Space Police sounds like absolute insanity with all of the camp and absurdity but I love it...

Something tells me that is going to take a while.
  4. American Economic Integration (US as Rome)

Like an Americas Union? Once Americans learn Spanish, and it's part of Latin America, it will definitely feel like the New Rome.
  5. PC: Black POTCS

While the right for white people to do pretty much whatever they want to blacks was literally in the CSA constitution, could the country be forced to change from a combination of internal and external pressure? If we assume that Richmond blinks on slavery in the 1880's, what events would need to...
  6. What could have been some alternate Cradles of Civilization?

The southamerican mesopotamia is a hard one. I have 2 ideas. 1) the northern guaranies were settled and had a somewhat impressive crop package. Maybe they keep expanding southwards and assimilate the southern nomads. Spreading agriculture with them. Altho this wpuld be a lot more likwly if...

  9. A 'smarter' NATO cartridge strategy 1950-1980?

the em-2, fal, m14. it doesn't matter. that's a read herring that doesn't impact my point keeping the bren in .303 means that you need to continue producing .303 ammo as long as the guns are in service. do you really want to be manufacturing new .303 up until 2006?

Of lost monkeys and broken vehicles

I have a feeling that there's no way Greece will survive the coming war without getting occupied by Italy/Turkey/Bulgaria/Germany until they get liberated later on, but they're definitely going to be putting up a damn good fight

About the Amazon, that was kinda what happened in otl. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/history/article/amazon-jungle-ancient-population-satellite-computer-model

  13. Balance of Power Without the French Revolution?

Good point. I was thinking you might get a similar dynamic to that in late-17th/18th-century Europe, except with the UK playing the part of France (the threatening potential hegemon which everybody gangs up to stop).
  14. AHC: A 20th Century Restoration of the French Monarchy

Okay, so let's say the right wing quickly became more organized and non-right wingers joined the opposition. Do you think that would be enough to force the government to fall leading to the formation of some provisional government which would oversee the creation of an assembly to craft a new...
  15. No Collectivization in the Soviet Union

Urbanisation would probably be slower Higher degree of food security and less famines Slower demographic transition among the rural population Less traditions would be lost, or be abandoned later than in OTL

Was Britain Right to Enter WWI?

Maybe not all maps, but this 1920s Statfords Map show Pink Aden, and is before TransJordan, so before Ibn Saud and his Merry Men did their thing, and Faisal still had Syria, while his Father, Hussein bin Ali, Ruled the Hejaz still. All just before Perfidious Albion would stop supporting him...

As @Ogrebear said, superb speech and a great chapter! im eagerly waiting for the next.
  19. How not to build a submarine. The Collins Class.

I really don’t know what to make of your latest screed seemingly about mostly dead politicians and union movements, but I will say something about northern basing: It’s fallen out of favour somewhat because it does nothing for retention, and personnel funnily enough are our biggest challenge.
  20. No Collectivization in the Soviet Union

Yeah, I suppose fundamentally, they believed peasants werent proletarian/couldnt be revolutionary. They were completely wrong about that, obviously. But to change that opinion is to change the entire course of Soviet History.
