  1. Reverse Midway Part One: Japanese Blitzkrieg

Four related threads merged. Please do not spam individual chapters of the same T/L as separate threads.
  2. Am I the only one offended by S.M. Stirlings Emberverse series?

If you CAN'T find something one or more of Stirling's books that just flat pisses you off you aren't really trying. People read them despite that, not because of it. My issue with the Emberverse is that it is, at the minimum, three book too long at this point, and about to be four. There is...
  3. Reverse Midway Part One: Japanese Blitzkrieg

Alternate does not mean fantasy. Alternate means counter factual, it doesn't mean one tosses all the laws of physics out the window. There are Forums here, however, where you can do exactly that. The fact that you have been told, with plenty of factual data to back it up, that your scenario can...
  4. Reverse Midway Part One: Japanese Blitzkrieg

Okay. Some really critical points. There is quite literally no way to get a B-29 to be carrier capable. While it was the best bomber of the war, a literal revolution in overall design, it was not a short/rough runway capable design. The B-29 operated from Tinian's North Field. North Field was...
  5. Reverse Midway Part One: Japanese Blitzkrieg

Might be time to switch to decaf. Bit harsh, don'tcha think?
  6. Map Thread XV

Is it really that hard to keep from dragging current politics into this thread? If it is that much of a trial, I can always lock it. Getting REALLY tired of having to come in here.
  7. The Anglo/American - Nazi War

Pretty much. Space travel is still stupid expensive, but compared to OTL its like catching a streetcar.
  8. The Anglo/American - Nazi War

Well, it would really suck to find one's self under an embargo by There IS no German Reunification Movement to speak of. It died at Stettin.
  9. The Anglo/American - Nazi War

By global percentage of GDP the India's have around 20%. The U.S. is still around 25-26%, the UK is around 5%, Canada is about 4%, as is Australia. The best in Europe outside the UK is Spain at about 1.5% Before everyone asks, I didn't do a complete breakdown for every country.
  10. The Anglo/American - Nazi War

Probably not. The A4 is deadly serious about preventing international aggression. More importantly there simply are not enough Poles to need to worry about "living space".
  11. The Anglo/American - Nazi War

Might have been much worse. Sooner or later the Reich would have learned about the Bomb. Once they knew it existed, the research would have restarted. On the other hand, it might have been a lot better. Without Hitler as the Fuhrer, the loyalty of those raised to see him as a demi-god wouldn't...
  12. The Anglo/American - Nazi War

Not silly. Not legal ATL either. International sports organizations are no less cautious ATL than IOTL (see how the IOC handled Taiw-... er... Chinese Taipei).
  13. The Anglo/American - Nazi War

Correct. Space travel is done in stages. Into orbit via "space planes" and the occasional chemical rocket, and the once in orbit by other craft for human.A lot of cargo is sent straght to orbit, even to the Moon, using mass drivers as a primary source.
  14. Reverse Midway Part One: Japanese Blitzkrieg

Please note that it is not necessary to start separate threads for each part of your Time Line. One thread is enough, simple provide updates.
  15. Reverse Midway Part One: Japanese Blitzkrieg

This isn't even close to dog-piling. For post 1900 this is beyond kid-gloves.
  16. Reverse Midway Part One: Japanese Blitzkrieg

Oh. Four carriers in that case. 32 V/TOL B-29s.
  17. What if Japan had surrendered conditionally?

Ya, the only thing I could think of to make this possible is the Japanese to sending everything out in a low grade code that the American and British listening post in Shanghai and Hong Kong intercept and/or Sorge get a full copy of the plans and Stalin decides its in his best interest to share...
  18. Reverse Midway Part One: Japanese Blitzkrieg

Going to need something a LOT bigger than a Nimitz, and I mean a LOT bigger. The Navy managed to do a series of experimental landing/take-offs with a C-130 on the Forrestal, something that continues to impress the hell out of me.http://www.theaviationzone.com/factsheets/c130_forrestal.asp That...
  19. Improve the Alaska class Large Cruisers

I'm pretty sure the crew figure for the Baltimore class was under 1,200. The over 2,000 figure is likely a typo. The one thing that was absolutely superb on the CB was the 12"/50, spectacular weapon. Utterly unneeded and the development cost a total waste, but one of the truly outstanding bits...
  20. What if Japan had surrendered conditionally?

No, they tried, no less than four times, to return to Status Quo Ante. Unsurprisingly, that was unacceptable.
