Yugoslavia in a Soviet Survival scenario?

So recently, as part of my many ideas that I have but never execute, I have been researching what caused the collapse of the Soviet Union and what might have stopped it. So far I have a rough outline of Kosygin becoming General Secretary after Brezhnev is assassinated in 1969, who then proceeds...

  3. The Reform Party: 20 Years of History

I did in fact mean Modern Monetary Theory! Given the party's roots as the "Taxpayer's Party" it's basically tailor made to dismiss their entire fiscal foundation and get their goat

Could a Great India avoid the Chinese conquest of Tibet?

Nah. The Indian government in 1954 called Tibet an autonomous region of China and recognized it as such being a fierce proponent of it in the UN. They only backtracked due to the 1962 war.

Threadmarks: The Kennedy Admiration: Part 1 Civil War

When Joseph J. Kennedy Jr. took office on January 20,1961 the country was still mourning the slain hero President George S. Patton. Kennedy would start his inauguration speech with the promise not to let the ideals for which Patton stood for parish with him and assured the nation that Patton’s...
  6. AHC make it hard to colonize North America

Honestly? Get rid of Portugal, or have a far more war-happy Iberian peninsula. Without Portugal's ability to dedicate disproportionate resources towards naval exploration and advancements, Europe can be set back decades to centuries on the seas for the absolute worst-case scenario if advanced...
  7. Could a Great India avoid the Chinese conquest of Tibet?

There's no need to change anything from China's part. India OTL was not okay with Maoist China annexing Tibet, previous declarations from more than ten years earlier be damned, they were just powerless. My premise is that they would be stronger and then, more capable to intervene, considering...

Could a Great India avoid the Chinese conquest of Tibet?

When India was gaining independence the KMT was winning the civil war. That was before the great defections of 1948 and the offensives.of 48 and 49. Also again the INC and ML both recognized Tibet as Chinese since the xinhai revolution. You need to fundamentally change the xinhai revolution...

Here's prepared remarks by Tourgee referencing the brief he filed with the court. https://cdm16694.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/NYCCH/id/359/rec/1 The quoted paragraph from Brown's argument references the plaintiff's [Plessy's] argument in the alternative - which was the Due Process...
  10. AU Fiction: CFL-USA - A different telling.

Actually, I need some opinion. I got to thinking, and while working on the next chapter. I never thought about College Football. While pondering about it, I got to work on a chapter on here about the 1993 and mostly 1994 NCAA Football (Division I-A) Season. But was wondering if I should post...

Osman Reborn; The Survival of Ottoman Democracy [An Ottoman TL set in the 1900s]

It does free up a lot of French men too for the German front. Offensives in the German colonies in Africa will happen yes. The ottomans are not at war with the entente. Why would they attack Basra which is under ottoman control? The alpine frontier in France makes this all the more hard for...

  14. Could a Great India avoid the Chinese conquest of Tibet?

Because its in their national interests to not have a potentially hostile and powerful neighbor controlling the Tibetan plateau, specially if we are talking about a China ruled by communists.

Kind off yeah. A strong middle alliance that's for sure.
  16. A 'smarter' NATO cartridge strategy 1950-1980?

The ammo was old stock, likely badly stored and therefore exposed to temperature extremes which would reduce reliability.

Could a Great India avoid the Chinese conquest of Tibet?

Every country in the world before Indian independence recognized Tibet as a part of China. Why is India going to go against that? The INC made it clear in their 1938 declaration that Tibet was recognized as a part of China. The 1921, 28 and 35 declarations all states this as well.
  18. How does one go about saving the Weimar Republic?

The best way IMO is delay, mitigating or stopping the Great Depression. Best way to do that IMO is to have a trade conference where everyone chops their tariffs in half. The US would then buy more from GB, France and Germany. France and GB would buy more from Germany. Germany would have had...
  19. PC: Black POTCS

I believe that the great depression could be the final nail in coffin after years of discontent for plantation rule forcing reforms allowing a member of the black elite to be elected 20 years later. Still would like to know the effects of a late 50's victory since that's a good half century...
