  1. German peace offer after Battle of France

Goaded Japan by cutting off shipments which Tokyo could no longer pay for in the first place.
  2. German peace offer after Battle of France

Halifax was offered the job and refused on the grounds that a member of the House of Lords could not be Prime Minister so he's not an option.
  3. German peace offer after Battle of France

Not remotely plausible unless you can explain why Hitler agrees to withdraw from the Alsace-Lorraine, which he stole OTL without even including mention of this in the treaty forced on France.
  4. Treaty of Sevres

Clandango, they'll certainly see the Turks more eager to return to the WWI alliance. Arachnid, actually hardly any area in Turkey claimed by the Armenians had an Armenian majority or anythng close to same. Of the seven vilayets(think provinces) claimed the highest Armenian population was...
  5. AHC:Kanawha Territory (West Virginia two step)

Also similar developments were hoped for in parts of North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee and other states so downgrading from statehood to territorial status would probably be seen as discouraging such results.
  6. Treaty of Sevres

OTL Italy decided that a slice of Turkey wasn't worth the trouble involved and France twice conceded territory at Syria's expense. Greece and Armenia were unable to hold territory in Anatolia. None of this suggests that harsher terms would have been remotely pleasant for any parties involved.
  7. Treaty of Sevres

Michael B, this scenario leaves Italy stronger in the Balkans, having obtained most of Albania a generation sooner while Greece is certainly weaker from the need to guard against the remnant Turkish state constantly. The most likely potential is German support meaning the collapse of the...
  8. Treaty of Sevres

An enraged Turkey, an Italian base in the Middle East and a Greece crippled by the efforts required...better hope this TL's WWII takes some a series of very different turns.:(
  9. Triple Alliance

By the middle of WWI the French fleet had suffiicent strength to take either the Italian or AH fleet and could have challenged both so it won't take that many British dreadnaughts to tip the balance in favor of the Entente. The Ottoman fleet won't be a factor, especially if two certain...
  10. Triple Alliance

No Gallipoli only means the Entente avoids that extremely costly fiasco which is to their advantage. As for Italy once the RN destroys Italy's coastal trade which is effectively the Italian economy south of Rome...
  11. UN sanctions on Israel without veto

No, a peace treaty is not a surrender, especially since I notice you offer nothing that Jordan actually gave up in the treaty. As for compromises...the only thing Egypt didn't regain was Gaza, which Egypt did not want returned in the first place.
  12. UN sanctions on Israel without veto

aktarian, what did Egypt or Jordan capitulate on when they signed peace treaties with Israel?
  13. UN sanctions on Israel without veto

Capitulate? So agreeing to a peace treaty constitutes surrender?
  14. UN sanctions on Israel without veto

I would disagree on the one state solution although it is surely a legitimate position to hold. As for the settlements, I'm on the record calling for Israel to remove the vast majority with or without peace talks...
  15. UN sanctions on Israel without veto

It would be better if Israel annexed the West Bank/Gaza Strip and announced the Palestinians had forfeited any claim to statehood because they were to receive Israeli citizenship en masse regardless of their own wishes?
  16. UN sanctions on Israel without veto

RousseauX, on the democracy issue the Palestinians aren't Israeli, have no wish to be Israelis and the occupied territories are not Israeli territory(nor should they be).
  17. UN sanctions on Israel without veto

If the US is opposed then there won't be an embargo against Israel.
  18. WI: Kent State Massacre

It makes the guardmen's trigger happy behavior seem more justified, true.:( As for how the faculty who, according to this thread, prevented a much greater disaster, suddenly turn cowardly at the start...
  19. WI: Kent State Massacre

You can't seriously posit a scenario where the university faculty is not at the university while classes are in session. As for weapons...improvised weapons for 2-3 students isn't going to convince the rest that they can take on equipped units of the Ohio National Guard.
  20. WI France's Henri of Guise not killed in 1588?

Treacherous? The Duke of Guise had made all too clear that his continued survival and the French king were not compatable, and had plotted against the king for years so treachery is hardly the word. Since the Church had openly endorsed assassination of key Protestants years earlier...
