  1. Could a defeat against Taiwan trigger the fall of communist China?

Isn't it an open secret that the ROC military is hopelessly compromised my the PRC espionage agencies?
  2. The Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime

IJN NERDS GET OUT OF MY ARMY OCCUPATION REEEEEEEEEEEE.
  3. The Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime

I do love the little trivia note Amazon gave about Kido being peeved at being under Navy authority. IJN GET OUT OF MY ARMY OCCUPATION REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. The tech levels are bit weird in the MiTHC. The Germans have the nuclear triad but with A-Bombs only with supersonic aircraft (which...

    Disgusting Army weapon REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. /s
  5. The Co-Prosperity Sphere

Got it, I mistook it for the C/30.
  6. The Co-Prosperity Sphere

Wait, are I assume you're not talking about the semi-automatic hand loaded 3.7cm Flak gun right?
  7. New Deal Coalition Retained Pt II: World on Fire

Naming a carrier after a person falls outside of even old-IJN naming conventions, unless under the Minseito DefMins there was a significant change. I mean even IJN to JMSDF naming conventions remained sorta similar. Mountains - IJN Heavy Cruisers/Battlecruisers -> Capital Ship/DDGs and older...
  8. TLIAW: Daughters of Elysium - The European Federal Election of 2019

The idea of Shinzo Abe being a navy man is sort of hilarious.
  9. 八紘一宇 - Hakkō Ichiu

True, to be fair, what made the IJN torps so effective was the fact that all the interwar testing gave them actual working detonators. WNT less verse does give all the powers a lot more battlewagons than they can make do with (Japan gets to complete the Tosa and Amagi builds, less the quake...
  10. Alternate WW2 Navies

H44 is design study that had a snowballs chance in hell of being built. H41/42 were the limit of German shipbuilding.
  11. 八紘一宇 - Hakkō Ichiu

It would me a interesting thought experiment to see how IJN carrier aviation evolves with just Hosho and no lessons learned from Akagi/Kaga. Not to mention, if they completed the first half of 8-8, the funds that OTL went to torpedo and Special Type DD R&D is expended.
  12. 八紘一宇 - Hakkō Ichiu

Turns out someone uploaded the Banzai cheer from Man in the High Castle
  13. 八紘一宇 - Hakkō Ichiu

Well written as always. Small typo on the "Kempaitei" -> Kempeitai (IJA) or Tokkeitai (IJN)
  14. 八紘一宇 - Hakkō Ichiu

To be fair, with the amount of PODs in this timeline, I think even a very well versed guy would have a hard time. Retention of A-J Alliance along with possible better relations with future US. Probably means a stronger Sempill mission so Hosho remains on schedule. Crackdown on rampant...
  15. 八紘一宇 - Hakkō Ichiu

Any update or status report on the naval build up ITL sans WNT?
  16. 八紘一宇 - Hakkō Ichiu

Well, should've rephrased. The actors themselves are not Japanese, but the characters they're playing are. :P Although, Joel de La Fuente passes off as Kempeitai very well.
  17. 八紘一宇 - Hakkō Ichiu

Trying to my damnedest to find that clip from Season 2 of Man in the High Castle. Pretty well shot scene of IJA/IJN staff officers doing the banzai chant. The irony being that most of them are not Japanese and the chant is being lead by a Chinese actor that looks like Xi Jinping and the...
  18. The Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime

As a thought exercise, what do you guys think their respective navies would look like in alternate 1962. IIRC, POD is Roosevelt's assassination so no Two Ocean Navy act. But considering Pearl Harbor raid still happens, I can only assume IJN development followed similar lines (Kido Butai and...
  19. Everything Japanese did "too little, too late" in WWII is done with maximal foresight

Wait what....how did some land emplacements force the entirety of the IJN to go "fuck it" and scuttle ala. HSF.
  20. The Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime

Yea, on both sides it seemed occupational/garrison troops get WW2 leftovers. First line units get OTL NATO issue (G3s, MG3s, MP5s for the Germans, Howa 64s for the Imperial Guard). Curious the kept the Nambu though as issue sidearm of the KmPT.
