I think it was inevitable. Look at Katrina or the King Riots in the 90s. The government was not able to maintain control and the entire area went to hell, now imagine that all over the world. The difference between now and 1843 is back then they werent dependent on electricity and vehicles...

I don't think it will ever come back. It actually makes sense when it went away. Right after the Change the government fell apart and everyone was just worried about survival. Once things settled down the little kingdoms were set, and even moreso as the time went on. As the generations get older...
