  1. Rebels or Patriots?

Many proud southerners are also happy being referred to as rebels. I wonder how much of this is because of Lost Cause romantization of the term so my question is what if the south had won the Civil War, would they still refer to themselves as rebels, patriots, plain confederates what do you think?
  2. WI: Stonewall survives...Sherman shot by friendly fire on May 10, 1863?

I don't think anybody has done this particular scenario. Is this enough to prevent losses at Vicksburg and Gettysburg? Is this enough to persuade France or Britain to recognize them?
  3. Jefferson Davis' successor?

I've been working on the Confederate States Presidents portion of the famous people in alternate timelines thread, and while it's good fun...it's hardly plausible, but I've been thinking about making atleast a slightly more plausible one. For the sake of this TL we'll assume that the war was won...
  4. Question only

What would China be called if there were no Emperor Q'in?
  5. How did the Franks become the dominant force in W. Europe.

How was Charlemagne able to rise to power? How did the Franks win papal support?
  6. The CSA wins...now what?

Anyone who finds alternate history at all fascinating has probably pondered the question: What if the south had won the civil war? While I find it relatively simple to theorize a plausible scenerio in which they could win the war, I find it terribly difficult to imagine any scenerio in which the...
  7. Dark Age battle flags

Can somebody give me an idea of how many flags were used in dark age warfare. The cavalry had one, the infantry had one...Who else? and what did they look like. What colors would they be. Would they all have a different coat of arms or none at all. I need as much info as possible.
  8. New Question! If you're reading this please weigh in with your opinion!

What if in June of 451 Aetius was unable to gather any army large enough to meet Attila in battle at the Catalaunian Plains? Suppose Aetius is forced to stay back at Tolouse with Theodoric and wait for Attila to attack there. How long after the Huns sacked Orleans (which would've happened w/o...
  9. As many different opinions as possible please!

If Attila had survived the winter of 453, could the Huns have sacked Constantinople. I'm having trouble finding info on Hunnic seige technology so I'm curious how others think they might have accomplished this.
  10. What if Attila did not suddenly die in 453?

Just registered, and I'm curious to others views on this subject. Could the Huns have thrived if Attila had not died so soon. Would they have expanded East or West? Would the Franks have conquered Gaul? How would their religious tolerance affect Christianity? Just curious what others think.
