    It covers the era prior to Islam...the purpose...not much other then the fact it was a defining border line. Not that I doubt it, but I know very little about then...what is the main attraction of the Byzantines?

    Have the Soviets side with the Nazis somehow, early on in the conflict. Perhaps, perversely, the Allies do better early on in the conflict, and so fel lconfident about declaring war on the Soviets for something or other(maybe the invasion of the Baltic states?)
