  1. DBWI: The Worst Sequels Ever Made

Hamlet II (The Revenge of Rosencrantz and Guldenstern) was pretty pointless, I have no idea what they were thinking when they wrote that. The fact that it's 3 hours long doesn't make matters any better.
  2. Great movies that never were

Ridley Scott's "Prophet of Dune" (1985) The film version of Frank Herbert's "Dune" had passed from director to director for years until it was finally picked up by Ridley Scott, acclaimed director of "Blade Runner" (1982). Although die-hard fans of the novel criticize the liberties taken with...
  3. AHC: Dynastic Wars and Absolute Monarchy in Britain, in a Modern Period?

This possibly belongs in ASB (I don't mind the mods moving it, although I felt it was worth a shot in pre-1900), but might be possible with a significant and early POD. So this TL premise is gonna sound strange, but I watched this 1995 adaptation of Richard III where the plot of Shakespeare's...
  4. A Surviving Holy Roman Empire

I think butterflying Napoleon would be a start. Wasn't he somewhat responsible for its dissolution?
  5. What would you like to see in a 20th century cultural ATL?

Now granted, I just posted something similar in a thread about alternate literature just minutes before I noticed this one, but it fits better here, actually. What if Lovecraft's philosophy becomes more popular in the decades after his death? What if this causes the youth culture in America to...
  6. Alternate Genres of Fiction, More Popular Subgenres, and Examples of These?

I've been playing with the idea of Lovecraft's Cosmic Horror becoming truly popular (not just in the OTL way), with the Cosmicist philosophy becoming far more mainstream. This could have profound effects on American society and literature from the 1920's onward.
  7. Political Structure of a British North America (No U.S.)

That makes sense. Another thing, would the Alaska Purchase be possible for the British?
  8. Political Structure of a British North America (No U.S.)

So let's say the revolutionaries are defeated, or that the rebellion never happens at such a large scale due to more appeasing British management. Just hand-wave the whole thing, it doesn't matter how. My question is, how would the political subdivisions look and develop? What would the...
  9. prolonged PRC maoism

The Great Leap Forward canceled? Maybe if millions didn't starve to death they would be able to carry on longer. As for effects, I think the Chinese economy would be weaker today than OTL, and internationally China would be more of a pariah as well. Not as bad as North Korea, but closer.
  10. Less negative perception of the Nazis?

One thing to consider, seeing how the German alliance with Japan was influenced to an extent by racial theory, is there any chance of this not happening? That they would ally with the Chinese instead, as happens in some TL would be possible.
  11. Lenin Survives Another 5 to 20 years

I think if Lenin was to publically denounce Stalin, the latter would be unlikely to regain his influence. I have the impression that the NEP was a good thing, as far as the man in the street was concerned, even though rapid industrialisation will be neccessary when Hitler comes knocking...
  12. Everybody Drank Each Other's Blood

Somehow seeing this thread made me laugh uncontrollably. Just the absurdity of the question and the specificness of the date and the fact that it's not in the ASB forum. Oh, well.
  13. WI 1905 Norwegian War of Independence

I gotta read that book, didn't know about the death gangs and all that. Very interesting. I just got started writing the TL, and I mentioned British and Danish support for Norway (loans for armaments etc.), while Germany and Sweden co-operate. This makes sense as both were hostile towards...
  14. WI 1905 Norwegian War of Independence

That would be interesting actually, as I'm sure it would lead to quite a bit of revanchism in Norway. Could this lead to Norway joining the alliance opposed to the side Sweden was friendlier towards? Which would those be, anyways?
  15. WI 1905 Norwegian War of Independence

IOTL while the negotiations were taking place about Norway leaving the Union with Sweden, there was a build-up of forces along the border. The Swedes eventually accepted the seccession, but what if they hadn't? Who would've won the war, and how would this affect Europe, with WW1 on the horizon...
  16. 1934 Italy And Germany @ War Over Austria.

But the re-armament wasn't that advanced yet, was it? I know about the agreements with the Russians and the re-instatement of conscription and all, but the German military of 1934 was hardly in the same state as the one in 1939. Besides, other countries might interfere on the side of Austria/Italy.
  17. Not fascist Italy neutral in WW-II

But would they have to attack through the Alps/Yugoslavia after the Fall of France? Couldn't they attack eastwards from the south of France just like Italy launched an attack in the opposite direction in OTL? That actually happened, right? Anyways, I doubt they would've been able to stay...
  18. Hitler the great Liberator?

I was thinking about almost the exact same thing the other day, only not with Hitler. Rather, what if a conservative Weimar Republic or a constitutional, at the very least not-very-authoritarian monarchy established in the interwar years (Kapp succeeding in his putsch?) attacked the USSR...
  19. Flag Thread II

A British puppet state under Stalin (Obviously ASB)
  20. Fascist Flag Thread

I used those Fasces because they're the kind the Fascists in Italy used, and it was easier to find an svg image of that one. Not sure what you mean about military groups and pioneers there though.
