WI: Britain Loses the Falkland War?

Yes this very much And @Stenz as above yes you are correct..... Labour would have folded ,the Liberals would have run around in circles until they imitated the oozlelum bird. No way was the country going to take anything other than victory.

WI: Britain Loses the Falkland War?

I was. I loathed Thatcher then and still do, but given my mood and the mood of those around me at the time I doubt if I'd vote Labour and I doubt if enough would. I'd probably tell Whitelaw or whoever took over ''Go back and do it right this time'' Regards Hugh

    The Invincible Battlecruisers

Once again I impressed by the sheer depth of knowledge on this site. My comment on the above list is but trifling I'm afraid. HMNZS Wellington. May I suggest another name. Because there is,just as in other nations more than a little rivalry between the capitol and the provinces, and favouring...

    The Invincible Battlecruisers

Extra carriers for the RN might have an interesting side effect, especially if the FAA is freed earlier. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairey_Aviation_Company These guys would benefit because the RN can now ask for more money[if there is any to be had] IOTL despite having some very clever men...

Creating a POD to keep the U.S.out of the 1st WW

Not sure I agree about the 'normal'' british resPonse because I can think of several different tactics Japan in WW1 is still a british ally and is not yet seen as a great threat French and US interests intersect how? And where? We must be careful not to use our hindsight here As to your last...

Creating a POD to keep the U.S.out of the 1st WW

There are other members of this board here who have far more knowledge than I in these matters, but the one comment I would make in response is this I was never a matter of whether the US could outbuild the UK ,but whether it was willing to spend the money and historicaly [sp] Congress was not...

Creating a POD to keep the U.S.out of the 1st WW

Interesting yes, simple no.....and that is no bad thing:) Now the first question I would ask is this If the US is known to be more belligerent than OTL does this make the warring powers more or less belligerent That is do France/UK etc gamble more thinking that they are certain of intervention...

Creating a POD to keep the U.S.out of the 1st WW

Assuming that you pull this off and the US does become neutral There would have to be a strict neutrality How does that effect US industry/agriculture IIRC the great dust bowl of the thirties was produces by tilling land to grow wheat for Europe. No Henry Ford? Economics...does the war end...

Creating a POD to keep the U.S.out of the 1st WW

Again probably not The USA was neutral and willing to trade with all .[sort of] The German problem was two fold.[at least!] Firstly they could not get to America owing to far greater R.N strength. And Two Money The UK had invested a lot of money in the US ....Railways stockyards ,land, banks...
