  1. WI: Nixon and Kennedy flip fates

I doubt it JFK was in bad health. By 1979, I think he'd be a husk of his former self.
  2. Ancient weapon choices: why swords?

That makes sense. I feel that the sword has the lowest attack as in armor penetration, but it's versatility and speed make up for that. Otherwise why spend the extra money in swords? Besides prestige that is. I like reenacting and all, but I don't think it's always realistic. As not worrying...
  3. Ancient weapon choices: why swords?

Plus crossbows, if you crank them ir have the one where you squat it back to reload it, you can have some unreasonable pull rates. Which would mean it could piece armor. At Malta when running out if powder, they got out the old crossbows. IIRC those bolts would go straight through men.
  4. Ancient weapon choices: why swords?

Even a weighted axe isn't going to perform like a sword. It's going to be shorter or weighted so that it's harder to parry. I haven't fought with one tbh. So I can't say from first hand experience.
  5. Ancient weapon choices: why swords?

Very true. It's also easier to stay in formation with a spear walls than with swords. But still swords up close are better, and though Spears are great, there are times when distance makes them useless. With a sword I wouldn't want to close with a spear and shield wall. But in that wall, I'd...
  6. Italy remains neutral in World War II. What happens to its territories and colonies?

Well that would make the suez crisis very interesting. If Italy isn't happy with Egypt, this would be a fine chance to stock it to them. Would take more US pressure to get them, the UK, France and Israel to back down.
  7. Would WW2 in Europe have been prevented if the Republicans won the Spanish Civil War?

Someone who is better informed please elaborate, but it seems that the spanish civil war was close to pulling France into a civil war. Which would change things radically
  8. Avoid the Italian Mutilated Victory

Italy thought it was a first rate power. It also thought AH would roll over and die when it was attacked . That didn't happen and the Italians were badly led and trained for most the war. It also didn't help that the Italians tried offensives in the alps. Should have left those areas alone...
  9. Interesting AH ideas that aren't commonly used

I'm sure you could have said that in 1913 Russia. Not many there were communists, but a lost war, disruption of the economy. Lack of food as well, makes many people seek out radicals for a chance of a future. I'm sure the Chinese peasants and Russians would have suffered in common way
  10. How would California evolve if it had not become part of the US ?

As a descendant of one of the original families, no way. California had a low Mexican population at that time. The Indians were also on the brink as well. They would have to find a way to bring in a populace that could be integrated easily and would be productive. Just not seeing it. As too...
  11. Less blitz ... more mines

Word for wht it'd be for the UK . As it was still in the fight and could still effectively sorty against planes and subs. The Japanese really were dead in the water at this point
  12. What if the Wehrmacht coup of 1938 had gone ahead?

True. The point is, democracy wasn't a priority, nor something to be expected
  13. What if the Wehrmacht coup of 1938 had gone ahead?

But those few generals wouldn't be able to keep power. As was said the Junkers didn't like democracy and would push for some sort of authoritarian state.
  14. What if the Wehrmacht coup of 1938 had gone ahead?

Yeah. This. the military probably wouldn't enjoy a lot of support. They also if victorious would instate some sort of military rule. Some magical happy version of some peaceful and quick transition to democracy is a pipe dream imho
  15. WI: Hitler at Nuremberg

The predictions, I think wouldn't make his views mainstream, but would probably give him credit in conspiracy theory circles and the types that like Alex Jones . Not mainstream, but it'd Def give him more influence at the fringes
  16. WI: Hitler at Nuremberg

He wasn't the cartoon villian people want to dismiss him as. He could make some statements as was said, predicting ruin in Europe for following communism and Jewish influence . They could and probably would resonate more, given all that has happened in the past few decades.
  17. Overestimated battles

I guess it didn't benefit the Union as much as it hurt the Csa.
  18. Nazi Soviet Agreement was an Easily Maintainable Deal for Germany

Unfortunately I don't. This forum has a terrible search function . What I took away, and hopefully someone can post it, is that Hitler from private to public was less antisemitic and more anti slav. Anti capitalism could have been there shared principle.
  19. Nazi Soviet Agreement was an Easily Maintainable Deal for Germany

On this site they've posted how Hitler actually toned DOWN his antisemitism, and actually increased his anti slav ideology. He could have just been antisemitic and kept anti Slav to a minimum.
  20. Nazi Soviet Agreement was an Easily Maintainable Deal for Germany

A million and a half men hanging out is different and far less of a drain than three million men fighting in th emergent front that there has ever been. And if economic ties become stronger, who knows maybe they can actually cooperate. I mean that's probably bad for humanity , but it was possible
