WI : Western Power destroyed Mecca and/or Medina

The Summer Palace during the 2nd Opium War, yeah. That was after the Chinese broke a flag of truce and captured a bunch of envoys and tortured them, with the British burning the palace to 'discourage' such practices. Anyways, the Summer Palace and the cities of Mecca and Medina are a little...

Which peoples could have plausibly chosen Latin Christianity over Greek Orthodox?

The Schism is formally dated at 1054 because that's when the Pentarchy was irreversibly broken, with the Pope and the Patriarch excommunicating each other. I think it was over the filioque to be precise, but the differences between the two had been widening since Charlemagne. After Charlemagne...

What peoples could have plausibly have chosen Greek Orthodox over Latin Christianity?

Hmm, on the Slovaks and Croats I don't think the Magyar baptism is going to effect them unless it's later than OTL; the Southern Slavs were all Christian at that point IIRC

Which peoples could have plausibly chosen Latin Christianity over Greek Orthodox?

Bulgaria is really easy, historically it came down to the wire on which rite they'd follow and to whose authority they'd submit. In the end they got an autocephalous patriachy and followed the Eastern Rite, but if the Pope had been less obfuscating towards (and I can't remember his name here...

    A Blunted Sickle

There were Canadians in Hong Kong OTL, but I guess with a European theatre ITTL it's very unlikely they'd be anywhere but France.

What peoples could have plausibly have chosen Greek Orthodox over Latin Christianity?

Genuine interest; what Eastern Rites are under the Pope (or have been historically) and what Latin Rites are independent?

Rate the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha/Windsor Monarchs

The atmosphere would be totally different, though. France and Britain might remain rivals for longer, and French public opinion would remain anti-British. British support for France in Morocco might not exist and there's the possibility of another Fashoda happening to sour relations further...

What peoples could have plausibly have chosen Greek Orthodox over Latin Christianity?

Well if it's not independent, it's definitely going to be Latin. Unless you mean it remains under the control of Constantinople somehow?

Rate the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha/Windsor Monarchs

From a global perspective, Edward VII isn't great because of his influence in setting the table for conflict with Germany and the world wars. Obviously, it's not his fault that it happened, but without him the Entente may never come about and we face a radically different (if even there is one)...

What peoples could have plausibly have chosen Greek Orthodox over Latin Christianity?

It's also pretty far from Constantinople, but close in proximity to Imperial power in Carinthia or Northern Italy. Both the Emperor and the Pope would need to be overcome to get an Orthodox Venice.

What peoples could have plausibly have chosen Greek Orthodox over Latin Christianity?

The problem I see with that is unless the Eastern Emperor is able to maintain a lot of their power, Rome's proximity to Naples and Venice is going to overwhelm Greek Orthodox movements. Now, I'm not saying that they'd never adhere to the Eastern Rite, but eventually they will be subsumed into...

homosexuality contraceptkon and abortion remain illegal.

It's definitely possible if you use a PoD that changes the dominant social and political philosophies of Europe. You could, for example have a different system than capitalism emerge, or negate the rise of liberalism in the 19th century. To do that, I'm not sure what you could change but I have...

    A Blunted Sickle

The problem that they see (and this is OTL) is if they end up in a war with the Italians and the Japanese, as well as the Germans. At that point, they're badly overstretched. As of right now they've killed the German surface capability but they aren't certain if they will be fighting the...

I thought the French grudgingly supplied them with coaling stations for the journey?

    A Blunted Sickle

Probably stupid, but can they use the larger ammunition for stuff like construction/demolition (for things like roads, rail and tunnels?)
