  1. Map Thread XII

Alright I made an updated version of my map. I probably made some mistakes when I was typing out all those names, or maybe I missed someone. Hopefully not...
  2. Map Thread XII

You will never guess who I took those colors from. They really do look the best.

Whoops. Well that needs fixing. I should probably talk about what went through my head as I designed this. I thought about the issues with border patrol this country would have. Panama would be near impenetrable with the environment and geography and the amount of border patrol resources...

United States of America based on Watersheds, but bigger. Changes include: All states are based on watersheds. Distric of Columbia is a larger district and is treated as a state in all but name only. Some states have been split, some combined and some given new names. Obviously, the US...

Why have I seen a couple of maps now that show central america being annexed by the US sans-panama? I can understand if France built the canal and owns that plot of land, but if its an independent nation, its getting annexed along with the rest of them. That tiny, easily protected border...

Found a real treat, image of the Chicago Burnham Plan's civic center. Read the whole Burnham plan here: https://archive.org/stream/planofchicago00burnuoft#page/n0/mode/2up Highly recommended even if you have already heard of the plan.

Aaaaand never mind. ^^ Mexico's a tough fight. But with Canada collapsing, and the Caribbean being secured, things are going to get dicey.
  9. America: My Third TL

So basically Toronto and Ottawa are all that is left of Canada at this point. Whats left of the Western front is just about a mop-up operation due to a lack of food and ammo and no help can come from outside in any other Canadian theater. My guess is that Canada will be done by July. Plus...

Really nice. I like Oklahoma, its the weird kind of border you would see in the real world and gives it some character. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing how you or anyone else for that matter would handle extending the border through Central America.
  11. Victoria II

Man this game is complex. I finally get a casius belli on mexico...only to realize that they are in an alliance with Great Britain. Suddenly I have 70 battalions slamming into me. Whoops! Time to try again...
  12. Victoria II

Victoria is $10 (50% off) on Steam right now fyi, might get a daily sale that pushes it down to 75% off but I am going to go for it now. Really want to make super-america.
  13. AHC: NYC not America's most populous city

Water policy plays a big part. If the Colorado river compact were arranged a certain way, say Arizona gets a share equal to New Mexico (5% instead of 17%) and we get no Central Arizona Project, we could see a large part of the Phoenix population go elsewhere due to lack of water. California...
  14. Could Native Americans pass diseases to Europeans?

Possible but unlikely. The old world was a larger incubator for all sorts of nasty diseases and had larger numbers of big cities. There were some larger cities in North and Central America (my understanding is that South America only had town size settlements) than in the old world but not...

More worlds fair, Chicago. Worlds fair, Paris. Plans for a palace in Paris.

I would honestly keep going, and then later do a second version. Usually I find it good to write something to completion even though it is flawed just so I have a complete draft to work from.
  17. America: My Third TL

Ive just noticed that a lot of posters who make big timelines often come back and do a second draft when they have received a lot of advice.
  18. America: My Third TL

I'm liking your updates Herricks, keep up the good work. Ill admit I am a bit North America focused but only because of the 'injustice' the US faced in the previous war after marching all that way across Mexico. I think Deckhand offers good criticism, but I wouldn't try over thinking it unless...
  19. Alternate/Unbuilt classical architecture.

Oh look what I found. A proposed and partially built library in Brooklyn. This is what was actually built, then later removed (or at least I think it was removed).

I thought there were more than three fronts for the British Navy to fight in? There is the Caribbean, Western Mexico (where GB already lost a major battle), the North Atlantic, the Canadian coastal areas (where I imagine Britain has some naval activity to keep supplies and men going to Canada)...
