  1. Operation Barbarossa in this scenario?

Why? Germans from where exactly? You need to strip down forces elsewhere.
  2. Operation Barbarossa in this scenario?

Parts of Yugoslavia, rear areas in Soviet Union. Right, but that wasn't my point. Frontline strength will go down. Trucks may increase, haven't done the math/research.
  3. Operation Barbarossa in this scenario?

Indeed. The argument that without Italy, Germany somehow has more troops available always seemed odd to me. Sure, you save forces from North Africa and the occupation of Greece. But at the same time, you have to put troops in the place of all Italian occupation troops, you have to cover the...
  4. Operation Barbarossa in this scenario?

But will have to waste troops on garrison duties that the Italians could perform. And will have less troops on the frontline as well.
  5. TBWI: Operation Overlord fails

Sure, the Maus caused havoc. Suicide rates amongst German engineers rose 500% in the months after its introduction.

St Pierre and Miquelon have been a knife at the throat of Canada for too long! No longer can the crimes of the genocidal anti-fish Francophone populace be allowed to continue! TO ARMS CANADIANS! WE FIGHT THAT OUR MARINE BROTHERS MAY BE FREE ONCE MORE!

Lappland looks very feasible as a nation. An economy based on pine needles and Eskimo-kiss prostitution should dominate the region with ease.

We're talking about the same Erwin "I can go to the Caucasus" Rommel?
  9. To Arms in Dixie- Confederate Victory OTL

    Casualties, not dead.

Napoleon died in 1811, only a few weeks after the birth of Napoleon II (born earlier than OTL). Talleyrand assumed the position of regent and set about negotiating a peace. Metternich championed the policy of reaching an understanding with France, and the Congress of Vienna began. Russia joined...

Map of Europe - 1817 The following depicts Europe in 1817, following the Congress of Vienna of 1811-1812 and the Prussian War of 1813. The turmoil of the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars is effectively over and Europe is beginning to settle into a situation of peace based upon the mutual...
  12. Gettysburg What If

Meade's pursuit of Lee was hardly 'lacklustre'. The Army of the Potomac was very badly worn down by the fighting, the conditions were awful, and by the time the two armies could come to grips again the Rebels had dug a strong defensive position. To have attacked would have resulted in a bunch of...
  13. Gettysburg What If

Longstreet tries to disengage and move round the flank of the Army of the Potomac. Whether this move will be successful or not is another thing. The Federals were pretty worn down in the first days fighting, but the Rebs don't have a cavalry screen because a certain Mr Stuart is too busy playing...
  14. “Where the Valkyries Rode the Skies” Alternate Normandy Timeline

Here's the thing. Even if we assume that for whatever reason, the Allies have now lost two beaches, the Germans have lost far far more. Multiple panzer divisions have been shredded. The German ability to counterattack at all is wasted, but things get worse when the role the panzers have to play...
  15. “Where the Valkyries Rode the Skies” Alternate Normandy Timeline

I'd say that's not really the right call. An evacuation is a lot more dangerous than staying put, and doesn't have any real advantages. The Germans aren't going to push the Allies into the sea without losses becoming preventative. Really, there's not much point in going to another beach. It...
  16. “Where the Valkyries Rode the Skies” Alternate Normandy Timeline

Why? The situation thus far is rather good. The Germans have wasted their armoured forces in counterattacks that have achieved little. An invasion of Yugoslavia is a terrible idea. The basic plan was flawed in concept, and once you bring in stuff like terrain it only gets worse.
  17. WW2 warplane question?

Field modifying aircraft was pretty common, and I wouldn't say it was really limited to aces. You might find that aces tended to want their aircraft modified more, as they knew more than other pilots how to get the best from the aircraft. It wasn't really an ace only thing though. Custom...
  18. WW2 warplane question?

You mean specifically built brand new designs, or modifications to existing designs carried out in the field?
  19. Germany "Wins" WWII, how long could Hitler survive?

Kinda ironic if he gets killed as a drain upon the resources of society.
  20. “Where the Valkyries Rode the Skies” Alternate Normandy Timeline

IIRC, the armoured divisions at Arnhem were detected. They were regarded as unfit for combat, etc... I'd say you can probably do it after that, but it requires something rather fantastical. Like Allied meteorologists failing to spot a hurricane unleashed by Thor after a particularly long...
