  1. WI: Hemmed in US

This would be interesting. New York City would become something like Hong Kong, built up and major trade city. The other states would likely form one colony with a lot of autonomy, and Northern Maine would go to Nova Scotia. Without New York City would Boston become the major port of call...
  2. WI: Great Britain goes ahead with Operation Vegetarian

If Britain was about to lose the war due to US isolation and Soviet loses, and this wins the war for them, Churchill and the rest will be seen as tragic hero's who did what they had to do to stop the Nazi's. If they did it while thing were in the balance, or worse they were winning, they'd be...
  3. Sinicized versions of Christianity or Islam gaining power in China?

Exactly, a Sinicized Christianity would simply fit it into the religion with little or no problem. A bit stronger than the Divine Right of Kings, but not too strong.
  4. Sinicized versions of Christianity or Islam gaining power in China?

If Christianity got to China early enough there are a few things that could change to make it easier for the Chinese to accept. -The Emperor is basically the Pope. He's chosen by God to represent God's will to the Chinese people. When he stops doing this, a new Dynasty is formed. -Ancestor...
  5. WI: Great Britain goes ahead with Operation Vegetarian

If the US skipped out on the war, and the USSR doesn't do very well, its likely Britain would do this. But as long as the US joins up, or the USSR looks like it will defeat Germany with British help, it will be avoided as too drastic.
  6. Instead of Pearl Harbor, Japan invades Siberia.

Manchuria was used for coal, iron and other minerals. No oil. If it had had oil available at the time, Japan might have stayed with its current borders, as it wouldn't really need anything else resource wise.
  7. A Far Different North America, 1812 to Modern Day

Why wasn't Sheaffe put in charge? He was second in command, on the scene, and he had the right seniority for it? I'd like to see this fleshed out, as of right now its hard to understand why the fighting is more brutal, and why the British would bomb an entire city rather than just the defenses.
  8. Surviving Nuclear Fallout

For Nuclear Winter, when you look at and add up the scenarios that haven't been debunked it seems that will get at least 1 (very lucky) probably 3 years without summer, 5 or more years in the worst case scenario. This would be more along the lines of a nuclear autumn. This won't cause an ice...
  9. A Far Different North America, 1812 to Modern Day

This should be interesting to read. My own TL has a very similar POD to this, so it will be interesting to see how we go down different paths.
  10. Little Giants

Beta Israel in Ethiopia. If you want a real challenge do it when it only controlled about 300km2 of mountains.
  11. Bloody Maple Leaves: A Dark Canada TL

A Flicker of Hope Washington DC, April 30, 1812 President Madison tried not to glare at Sir Augustus John Foster, 1st Baronet and British ambassador to the United States of America. A broken, blood stained Baker Rifle sat on his desk between the two men. “Ambassador, I must bring to...
  12. Bloody Maple Leaves: A Dark Canada TL

Many thanks. New Brunswick will be living in interesting times for the next few years, and sharing it with its southern neighbours. Thanks. You have no idea. With Tecumseh's current Pyrrhic victories, and even his loses which hurt the US, much of the US, not all by any means, but far more...
  13. Irritating clichés about Pre-1900 AH

I think I generally avoid that problem. I make up completely original gibberish that is semi-pronounceable.

  15. What else can the British sell to China

There were lots of things the Chinese people were interested in. The problem was the Chinese Emperor stopped most of it, claiming it wasn't needed. According to the Emperor and his supporters the only thing they needed from Britain was silver and gold.
  16. WI: Mao Dies in 1947

Also Stalin had earlier agreed to return some naval ports to China, that were vital to Russia's Pacific navy. Stalin needed some new ones made available before the handover and thought that some Korean ports would be great. So he agreed with Kim on the idea into invading South Korea. But Stalin...
  17. AHC/WI: Widespread domestication of foxes

No idea. I know that the mice did live in the corn fields and were eaten by Mayans to make up for the huge lack of protein. but thats about all I know. If the more meat eating Southeasterners had farmed enough to warrant big storerooms of corn and other plants, they might need a cat...
  18. AHC/WI: Widespread domestication of foxes

I did mention that fact. Thats why I don't think Mesoamerica would do it, since they already had small dog breeds. In the Southeast, they have farming, but only medium size dogs. If for some reason they domesticated foxes, maybe the POD is a slightly friendlier type, the fox could play the role...
  19. AHC/WI: Widespread domestication of foxes

The best chance would be in the America's. Have one of the agricultural groups in Mexico, Southwest, or Southeast domesticate them to deal with rodents. I think the Southeast would be best, since Mexico had small hairless dogs for hunting rabbits, they could probably be used to hunt mice as...
  20. Bloody Maple Leaves: A Dark Canada TL

Augusta Chronicle, April 27th, 1812 The True Enemy Awaits Even as our state rejoices upon hearing that the savages are defeated once and for all by our brave militia, we mustn't forget who the real enemy is. Who armed the savages? The British. Who riled the savages into frenzy of...
