  1. Idea: Humphrey vs. Nixon Round 2?

I've read differing numbers, and I'm not sure it was simply understanding the primaries that gave Carter and McGovern (especially carter) the primary, but you seem to be the boards expert on American politics, so I'll concede my point. As for the 1972 primaries, I feel you missed the more...
  2. Goldwater Beats LBJ

LBJ was riding on Kennedy sympathy domestic successes, and a very weak yet overly principle opponent. For everything Goldwater threw at LBJ, LBJ got the last laugh. My favorite one is "In your heart you know he's right" (regarding Goldwater). The Johnson camp responded mocking his hawkish...
  3. Bush Wins in '92

Quayle is still next in line, so to speak. That ideology has dominated the GOP since Eisenhower. He's got a huge advantage with the faithful, though I believe he would have created more footage of him being an idiot for us to laugh at.
  4. Idea: Humphrey vs. Nixon Round 2?

Humphreys base wouldn't vote in primaries, and he hadnt focused on them in 1968 either.
  5. Idea: Humphrey vs. Nixon Round 2?

Interesting. I was under the impression his men were seated every time.
  6. Idea: Humphrey vs. Nixon Round 2?

I thought Daley still had sway over the second group, although its probably easier of his delegates are seated. RogueBeaver: I suppose Humphrey could use Nixons actions as over escalation and spin LBJ and HHH as focusing on Vietnam while Nixon tried to create War in all of Indochina?
  7. Bush Wins in '92

Exactly, the governor of then the second largest state in the union would not play second fiddle to a Congressperson of any sort.

  10. AHC: Reconstruction even more of a disaster

No way is the norh executing lee. He was highly respected by his fellow West pointers.
  11. Bush Wins in '92

Nope, in this case it's Quayle, just as bush to Reagan.
  12. Idea: Humphrey vs. Nixon Round 2?

Daley endorses Humphrey early and Illinois delegates refuse to budge. During the first Nixon term, he campaigns against the Vietnam war, gaining some popularity. He eventually is brought up in the convention as the unity candidate, and we go from there.
  13. Bush Wins in '92

Cuomos not taking a spot on the bottom part of the ticket.
  14. Reagan pulling a Nixon?

And as for the debates, Carter actually won mos of them in regards to policy. They were just hollow wins because Reagan spun them better.
  15. McGovern Kennedy 72

TNF in another thread. Mondale was a good man, but he believed Inthe myth of Reagan. His picking Ferraro was more the quarterback throwing the hail Mary when he's only down three and needs to get into good kicking position.
  16. Bush Wins in '92

Expect a monetarist economic policy from bush, if anything. I'd agree that there would be lImited economic action under Bush, and that we'd see a drastically different, aggressive policy under Bush. If Sudan did indeed offer Bin Laden in ATL (details are debated in OTL), expect Bush to take him.
  17. Bush Wins in '92

Agreed with Joe, and I feel that Cuomo would The best bet for the Dems.
  18. McGovern Kennedy 72

What? Mondale could have won the election if he didnt go for the Hail Mary with Ferraro and focused on the issues, not the deficit.
  19. AHC: Utah-like Jewish state in western USA

Unless they capitalized on the gold rush first and formed relatively urban communities, I find it unlikely.
  20. Questions about which CSA officials I need to include in this situation

Because usually an actual military man would be interested to see a new advanced weapon. And Jackson is a terrific military man. But he was dead by then so the point is moot.
