I can't imagine that industrial centers like Detroit and Pittsburgh wouldn't have been hit. Also, I would tend to think major ports like Savannah and Houston would get hit (they do have Charleston getting hit, at least). And, as someone stated before, why not San Diego? Also, not "everyone"...

I've talked with some guys who used to be involved with nuclear weapons targeting back in the 1980s. They always told me that I'd be shocked of the places that we had targeted and would be hit in the event of a nuclear war. Maybe he was lying to me, but whatever.

Maybe have France actually respond the the German reoccupation of the Rhineland in 1936? If they do and push the German brigades out of the Rhineland (which they easily could have), Word War II, as we know it, may never have happend.

A couple things... The most surprising thing about a thermonuclear war is how many people would survive (at least initially). Things will be hell afterwards for awhile, though, so the ones who live might be the unfortunate. Secondly, I'm sure we'd all be surprised at the places targeted...

We'd need a Fail Safe scenario where perhaps the Russians order one of their bombers to drop a bomb on one of their cities (Stalingrad, Moscow, or Leningrad, probably).

The Defense Force would need a modern air force capable of achieving air superiority. Lots of SAMs and AA guns, of course. Frankly, though, unless Hong Kong has nukes, the Chinese are going to be able to take the city without too much difficulty if they really want it. By the way, a timeline...
