  1. So, now I have Hearts of Iron II...

Kaissereich DH game. Played as the Soviet Union. The war started in 1938, when Germany declared war on France following the assassination of a German ambassador. Soviet Russia was consolidating its control at the time, caught in the midst of an invasion of Central Asia when war broke out, and...
  2. Europa Universalis III

But no matter what, the two-headed bear flag looks pretty cool. Also, eyeballing things from the Fallout wiki, looks like the NCR's capital, Shady Sands, is actually located in Nevada. Aside from the NCR, in the Rockies and Pacific West there's also Frisco (California, Fallout-influenced...
  3. Europa Universalis III

Been doing that here and there (most of the North German Plain is depopulated), but the one thing I've been doing in the Americas is just really lowering the populations everywhere-- outside of the major metropoles, the provincial populations are mostly between 2k-10k at start. Plus, it's been...
  4. Europa Universalis III

Got a total of 1999 provinces now in this diddling-with-a-post-apocalyptic-setting mod thing. It's dashed hard to find a balance between just making all the US states independent countries and getting silly with bizarre ideas. Managed to finish off the American Southeast to a point I'm satisfied...
  5. The Empire Falls, Rome Does Not

Maybe not centuries, but it all depends. There's absolutely got to be some institutional changes that need to happen, and scaling back on the sheer bloat of governance is one of them. The Rhine frontier was also very porous by the fourth century, and shifting the defensive lines back to the...
  6. Victoria II

Shortage-- eventually it got resolved. Just finished that game, in fact. Played as Transvaal, colonized most of southern and eastern Africa, kept wars to a minimum. First time I played with AHD. Things noted: There seemed to be a lot fewer country-wide rebellions in general, although France...
  7. Victoria II

But how can I build a factory when I can't get a stockpile of machine parts through trade or anything?
  8. Victoria II

I'm a great power, it's the 1880s, and I've manually set trade orders for steel, machine parts and cement since 1870, and yet I still have none of those vital items stockpiled. It's really starting to hurt my expansion opportunities, since I can't get the goods needed to expand my naval bases...
  9. Europa Universalis III

Dunno. I've only done a smattering of America, Africa and Europe. There's no missions or events* written yet. The only thing aside from countries and the map that I've altered is the tech rates for different groups-- the sub_saharan techgroup now has the usual Muslim attributes for tech...
  10. War of the Classes: A Gilded Age TL

    AW YEAH BOI WE GONNA TALK MORE ABOUT CORPORATE REVENUES - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Steers & Silver: The Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad, Part 2 The ATSF needed more than aspirations to become a transcontinental railroad...
  11. Map Thread IX

Jesus wept, I don't want to do that! YESSS I believe this is the primary map I used for reference, which on reflection wasn't the best of maps available. Still, it showed the land grants of the Kansas Pacific, which I figured might be useful for later reference. Been using GIMP for...
  12. Map Thread IX

WE NEED UNIFIED COLOR SCHEMES FOR EVERYTHING, PEOPLE. EVERYTHING. I PROPOSE THAT THE ATCHISON, TOPEKA AND SANTA FE RAILROAD HENCEFORTH ALWAYS BE REPRESENTED BY DARK GREEN. Also, anybody have any tips on how to depict mountains in these sort of maps?
  13. Europa Universalis III

Guess I just did South Africa.
  14. Crusader Kings II - Paradox Entertainement (02/12)

I think it says "Holy Roman Empire".
  15. Europa Universalis III

3.2 isn't Divine Wind, I think. You need the Divine Wind expansion for the cool graphic bits.
  16. Benefits of a Raj Style Colonization of Japan

Didn't Japanese mines produce a considerable amount of silver and mercury in the 17th and 18th centuries? I may be confusing data here, but I thought they had that going for them way back when.
  17. Europa Universalis III

If you vertically invert the map, you'll be able to use the MSPaint coordinates at face value for the position of cities and such in positions.txt, which really helps out the process. Just remember to un-invert the map once your done getting the coordinates.
  18. Europa Universalis III

There's also the pain of determining the coordinates of cities, ports, &c. for every province-- the y-coordinates always have to be inverted*, so if MSPaint tells you a point is at (856, 1488), you'll have to mark it down in positions.txt as (856, [2160-1488]) to get it to display correctly...
  19. Europa Universalis III

I really have no idea of what to do with Canada, other than have Madawaska overflow into a bit of New Brunswick and probably chop up Southern Ontario so that Diton/Detroit can control Windsor and New York-based Niagara can control the other side of the falls. Something with Newfies too, I guess.
  20. Europa Universalis III

I've only done the Michigan side of it, which is part of the Upper Peninsula state of Superior. Aitou (Ann Arbor, from the nickname "A2") Diton (Detroit, from the nickname "D-town") Lancing (Lansing) Westmishia (West Michigan) Superior (The Upper Peninsula)
