I hate to be a downer but I don't think it's possible, an earlier PoD would be needed to fuel earlier development into rocketry and aeronautics - remember that the first heavier-than-air crafts were only developed 1910-1920!

I'm afraid that such a PoD would have to be very early in order for the Zulu to have a chance of resisting the british and actually surviving. While they may initially repel them, actively retaining total independence is very difficult for the Zulu.

I agree, there would probably be good deals of autonomy given but it would still certainly be tied in to government in Madrid.
