That was me putting a bit of my "self" into the "self" insert, even if otherwise she wasn't very much like me. Since I might still return to it eventually, I think I'd prefer not to give away too much about future story developments... Though I will say that the broad picture of Alyssa's life...

Thank you for the encouragement. I really do think that was just a case of a vocal minority at play, since the majority of commentators seemed to be supportive. I don't resent anybody who criticized that story really, I'm a live and let live sort of gal.

    Pop Culture Timelines Go-To Thread

I appreciate the kind words, Jcoggins. This is all stuff that I turned up while doing my own research and reading, since I'm gearing up to devise a gaming TL myself. Something to do with a more successful Saturn, I think, because I'm a masochist.

    Pop Culture Timelines Go-To Thread

The Gaming Thread Omnibus Hey all! I wasn't able to find anything comparable on this thread or on the wiki, so I decided to construct an omnibus directory of all of the video/computer gaming timelines, WIs, and AHCs that I could find on the board. The vast majority of these are from this very...

Massively Multiplayer: Gaming In The New Millennium

Cool, it’s great to see he’s still interested in digital education products. On a tangentially related note, the only SEGA “console” I had as a wee lass was the Pico. But I did adore it. :)

Massively Multiplayer: Gaming In The New Millennium

How has Tom Kalinske been doing since he departed SEGA at the end of the last thread? Seeing Reggie again reminded me of that question.

Massively Multiplayer: Gaming In The New Millennium

I enjoy the sense of history in these later updates, with the current cast of developers and fans remembering classic games from this timeline’s past. Very realistic. And of course, I’m almost as interested in this fictional E3 as I am in this year’s real one.

Massively Multiplayer: Gaming In The New Millennium

Definitely a gut punch. Big props to you for making me care about this character so much, Ry. Just makes the inevitable goodbye harder. :( To jump on a topic from a few days ago, even though I was born in '94, my parents were themselves pretty detached from pop culture in the '90s, so it's...

Massively Multiplayer: Gaming In The New Millennium

Since we know Google/Samsung are on the prowl and preparing to enter the console market, maybe they could scoop up Konami’s killer IPs by bidding in? As of now I’m trying to imagine what exclusives they could land for the Nexus (I’m remembering the name correctly, right?) and haven’t picked up...

Massively Multiplayer: Gaming In The New Millennium

You're welcome! Reading along is my pleasure. Since SMAC was a thing, I wonder if we will still get a modern "remake" like Beyond Earth ITTL. Only, you know, good? That would be a sight to see.

Massively Multiplayer: Gaming In The New Millennium

All caught up! I can’t tell you how glad I am that the Panzer Dragoon series got the longevity and success it deserved in this timeline. And it’s nice that Sonic has mostly avoided its OTL pitfalls here, too. Hey, on a related note, did Sonic still get his 3D-era redesign ITTL? If so, was it...

    Map Thread XVIII

Hey thanks! I'm glad you like it. These are good questions which for the most part haven't occurred to me yet, so I'll offer some probable answers based on the impressions I had while I was making this. Spoilered because I might go on and on. I appreciate the questions! I like brainstorming...

Makedonia is South Slavic, I think, probably closely related to the Bulgarians. So not much of a change there. All I've really resolved about the colonial period in Africa so far is that it was more hands-off than OTL because there were stronger native power structures in place, but I can't say...

    Map Thread XVIII

I've been making some progress on my old map project. "The Italoi" returns with a bit of a face lift. This timeline has a somewhat vague medieval POD wherein the Italian peninsula is struck by a local epidemic which leaves large parts of its littoral depopulated. Good Imperial Greeks from Hellas...

How would relations between Europe and a surviving Majapahit Empire go?

Indonesia doesn't have much in the way of coal, does it? Most of it was submerged or hadn't taken shape yet during the major coal-forming epoch of the Carboniferous, though to my knowledge there are some small deposits in Irian Jaya/West Papua and Borneo. I wonder if it would have enough to fuel...
