    OTL Election maps resources thread

I like how visible the east river/west river split is on that map. It looks exactly as i would have expected.

Hamilton dies in a duel... with James Monroe

I'm not sure he would actually do it... Lots of duels were all showmanship with no real intention of killing and Monroe has never struck me as the killing type like Burr.

    Better George McGovern Running Mate

The problem is in part that not many people would have agreed to run with McGovern, he simply wasn't well liked by party insiders (despite doing more for the Kennedy administration than anyone gave him credit for). In the end I don't think there was a way he could have done very well, Nixon was...

U.S. Democratic Party adopts some libertarian positions post-Ed Clark 1980?

Why would that have to be? I suspect you are projecting the modern party system backwards into the past. In 1980 John B. Anderson only just broke with the party over Reagans conservatism. Had Bush, at the time a moderate, won the nomination he wouldn't have left at all. In 1980 there were many...

WI: the Colony of Georgia outlawed slavery

Just spitballing but if Georgia continues to resist slavery (unlikely) would there be much incentive for expansion at all? I can't imagine what their economy would be based on. Perhaps this delays development enough that it benefits the "5 civilized tribes."

U.S. Democratic Party adopts some libertarian positions post-Ed Clark 1980?

Libertarian Democrats aren't unheard of... But I'm not sure who would be the spearhead of this movement... OTL Eugene McCarthy and Mike Gravel had connections to libertarian organizations. In any case I doubt that Libertarians will be any more successful in the Democratic Party than they have...

If Cheney wasn't Veep, would Bush have been impeached?

The discussion surrounding impeachment was never serious, just a couple of far left loons spouting off. If he had more clearly done something illegal perhaps.

AHC: Third Party Supplants Republicans or Democrats

The Reform Party might have had a chance if Perot were actually interested in building a party and invested some money in recruiting and supporting candidates down ballot. Perhaps he could start building the party for the '94 midterms rather than '96 general. There was also real talk in the 30s...
