  2. Map Thread XII

Cross-posted from MotF 94... This one's going to be a two-parter, done in the esteemed Munroist "wall-off-text-then-map" style. It's a map of the Earth in a sci-fi setting I've been working on off and on since January. The most concise description I can think of is "the bastard biopunk...

  4. MotF 94: This is Planet Earth

*WARNING: WALL OF TEXT* This one's going to be a two-parter, done in the esteemed Munroist "wall-off-text-then-map" style. It's a map of the Earth in a sci-fi setting I've been working on off and on since January. The most concise description I can think of is "the bastard biopunk lovechild of...
  5. AHC: Polynesia Pulls a Meiji

If you can manage that, that'll be fine too.
  6. AHC: Polynesia Pulls a Meiji

Okay, this one might be pretty hard, so I'll understand if you don't take it. Regardless, I think it would be interesting to explore. So... Your challenge (should you choose to accept it) is to find a way that some segment of the region normally considered "Polynesia" is able to modernize...
  7. Rememberences of Map Contests Past

Ew. Vacuum your carpets first, please.:p
  8. Map of the Fortnight: Main thread

Ooh, sounds fun. Count me in.
  9. WI NYC wasn't centrally planned

The rivers didn't help much. As I recall the December ice was too thick for the firemen to break through.
  10. AHC: Flip Nations Between Cold War Blocs

Seems like NATO comes out the loser in that one, seeing how Czechoslovakia is basically a giant, vaguely penis-shaped salient into the heart of the Warsaw Pact, has a much smaller population and economy, and has almost no strategic value.
  11. WI: Marx Shot

The world would be spared a great many nasty dictators, but that may not mean much. Some other school will rise up and fill the void of left-wing economic thought. Perhaps something resembling a more lefty Fascism, with an emphasis on the State supporting the People as opposed to the Corrupt...
  12. WI: No sovereign immunity in the US?

Trust me, I know all about it. Oy...
  13. WI: No sovereign immunity in the US?

What? That's like basic civics. A court system isn't supposed to be weighted in such a way that information other than material facts have any bearing on a ruling.
  14. AHC: Airship Fleets

Wouldn't using hot air instead of hydrogen help somewhat? Then a steam engine could pull double-duty--providing lifting gas (heated air) and forward thrust.
  15. WI: No sovereign immunity in the US?

Every libertarian and anarchist in the US would be arrested within five years. Not through political repression, but just because the court system couldn't handle so many frivolous lawsuits. :D In all seriousness, I don't see much changing. After all, isn't the whole point of a court system...
  16. Map Thread XII

Oooh, burn. Kind of interesting to see two island naval empires go to war, though.
  17. Map Thread XII

I do find the idea of a peninsula(?) named Urg rather funny.
  18. Map Thread XII

I don't know your timeline, but this war seems rather, ah...uneven.
  19. AHC: Less Racist US

Finding some way to butterfly the Trail of Tears would probably help improve the US' attitudes towards the American Indians. Exactly how much, I don't really know.
  20. Shining Path Victory in Peru--What Happens Next?

What's the longest you'd see a Shining Path regime lasting before someone (most likely the US) intervenes? I'd give it five years.
