  1. Europa Universalis III

Yeah, good point. I think I'll just get Complete then, and get the expansions as I can afford them.
  2. Europa Universalis III

Hmm... I would get Chronicles, then, but I can't find a version for Mac. On second look, I can find it, but I don't think I can afford it. (I'm pretty tight on cash, and I was going to spend an Amazon gift card to buy EUIII Complete, but Chronicles isn't on Amazon.) I'll probably end up getting...
  3. Europa Universalis III

I'd like to ask your guys' advice. At the moment I only have the vanilla version of EUIII, which I very much enjoy. Is it worth getting EUIII Complete?
  4. What if No Genghis Khan?

Well, the trade routes between China and the Middle East and Europe established by the Mongols went a long way towards helping the Black Death spread. Also, there's this theory, which is rather interesting, as it means that the Black Death of the 14th Century was directly caused by the Mongol...
  5. Your Ancestors as Presidents or PMs.

My great-great-great grandfather was William Jennings Bryan. I don't know enough about that period to think of a specific POD, but I'm sure it's plausible enough for him to have won in one of his elections.
  6. Asante Rising

Quite good so far. Subscribed. This'll be the first TL I can follow from the beginning...
  7. AHC: Two Germanys

This is similar to what I was musing about in this thread... From this website: Austria (excluding Lombardy-Venetia): 25.8 million Bavaria: 6.2 million Württemberg: 2.2 million Baden: 1.9 million Total: 36.2 million Assuming the rest of Germany (the territories in the North German...
  8. Challenge: A Great Power in Africa

I really like that idea. I may use it for a TL, if I actually get around to writing one, and if I find the time and resources to do tons of in-depth research on pre-Colonial Africa. But it really seems like such a fascinating possibility to explore...
  9. PC/WI: Liberal Germany, Separate Prussia, Italy, and Hapsburg Hungary after 1848

    1. The map I made up is just a vague approximation. I'll need to look at the different states of the German confederation and see which would be likely to join Prussia and which Austria. 2. That would be possible, but it's also quite possible for Bohemia/Moravia to remain with South Germany, as...
  10. PC/WI: Liberal Germany, Separate Prussia, Italy, and Hapsburg Hungary after 1848

I think I'm going to have Hanover remain independent as the third German state. Hanover always did have that independent streak... Right... Any suggestions, then? And wasn't the revolution only in the Prussian part of Poland? What if there was a revolution in the Russian part as well? And I...
  11. PC/WI: Liberal Germany, Separate Prussia, Italy, and Hapsburg Hungary after 1848

Then another option would be to have a revolution in Poland. The Russians move in to suppress the revolution, causing the Hungarians to withdraw their regiments. Then things happen the same as before... Hmm. I'll need to think those over some more...
  12. PC/WI: Liberal Germany, Separate Prussia, Italy, and Hapsburg Hungary after 1848

In the case of a Cislethanian Austrian Empire, what might happen with Galicia, Bukovina, and Dalmatia, as these territories would be cut off from the Empire by Hungary?
  13. PC/WI: Liberal Germany, Separate Prussia, Italy, and Hapsburg Hungary after 1848

Then what about reversing the fates of Hungary and Southern Germany? The Empire is able to suppress the revolts in Germany and Bohemia, but Hungary falls from its grasp, where a liberal regime is installed. After the revolutions are over, the Empire turns towards Germany, appropriating ideas of...
  14. PC/WI: Liberal Germany, Separate Prussia, Italy, and Hapsburg Hungary after 1848

So, I've been musing on different possible outcomes for 1848 for a while, but most of them have either been used before or are too hard to work out. But now I've got another idea, inspired by this old thread. From Wikipedia: What if, instead of aiding Austria to put down the Hungarian revolt...
  15. WI Russia and Austria attack Berlin after Kunersdorf (1759)

How plausible would it be for France/Austria/Russia to win the European portion of the Seven Years' War in 1759, but still have the colonial conflict between France and Britain continuing, with Britain still eventually winning?
  16. PC No Genghis Khan = No Black Death?

Quite possibly. From Encyclopedia of Mongolia and the Mongol Empire:
  17. WI Russia and Austria attack Berlin after Kunersdorf (1759)

So, no Miracle of the House of Brandenburg. Russia and Austria follow up their victory at Kunersdorf with a successful attack on Berlin. Prussia loses the 7 Years War, and any chance of being a major German power, in 1759. But I'm interested in what the results of this might be. What might the...
  18. AHC: Germany and Italy unify in 1848

Anyone know some good resources (websites, books, etc.) that I can use for information on the 1848 Revolutions? But how to get him to accept the crown without significantly changing his personality (which would most likely result in a bunch of earlier butterflies)? Perhaps I shouldn't have it...
  19. AHC: Germany and Italy unify in 1848

Yes, I did. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. :p
