Belgium Partitioned, What Happens to the Congo?

82% British and less than 18% Belgian( or Portuguese, Swiss and American) The transfer of shares happened largely after Sir Roger Casement's involvement. BTW Sir Roger Casement was an IRISH lord. The British hanged him for his involvement in the Easter Rising and didn't repatriate his body(...

What were the biggest tech and weapon mistakes and missed opportunities of Germany in ww2

During WWII too many to sum up. Pre war is another thing. I propose not developing the He 100/112 instead or at least simultaneously to the Bf 109. Its potential envelope was much bigger than that of the Bf-109. I suppose the same goes for the FW 187 as opposed to the Me-110? The FW 190 A...

Belgium Partitioned, What Happens to the Congo?

Actually the Congo was largely ran by a British company The Anglo Belgian Indian Rubber Company. Very few Belgians, including Leopold II were involved.

Beating a Dead Sea Mammal: How can a non-ASB Operation Sea Lion thread be created?

Sir, I'll make an exception and try to explain it to you. I'm not the one making assumptions. I'm the one telling you NOT to make assumptions. Not based on paper orbats or maps. PLease read my original post again.

Beating a Dead Sea Mammal: How can a non-ASB Operation Sea Lion thread be created?

In fact I've never read Forzyck's book on Sealion. If it is as good as his Case Red book on the campaign in France I will however. Your comments are a bit biased aren't they? Your first statement to an operational status is 'They would be on station...' that's your first mistake. You cannot even...

Beating a Dead Sea Mammal: How can a non-ASB Operation Sea Lion thread be created?

Not about to start a debate in favour but numbers must be crunched very carefully. Let's say I accept that the UK had 70+ destroyers able to intercept an invasion fleet. (Which they didn't IMHO, but that's my thing) but how many CREW was available for those destroyers? Look it up and feel as...

What if MacArthur's proposal had approved? Let's A-bombed China

Don't forget that the US offered to drop a bombs on Indochina to get the French out of a mess. France refused.

    Em2 adoption

Absolutely no hate for the 5.56 an sich but vehemently opposed to sending out penny packets of troops with inadequate weaponry. The 5.56 definitely has it's uses, but IMHO it is now no longer suitable as military standard cartridge.

I do think you know what I mean.

    Em2 adoption

A .223 necked up to 6mm would be almost exactly like a standard .243 Win. Which IMHO would have been a perfect round anyway. ;-)

    Em2 adoption

Dont get me wrong. My favourite rifle is a 6mm PPC. And I love the 6.5mm. Creedmore and such. But I doubt that they would ever make a decent military round.

    Em2 adoption

Let's agree to not agree on this. Let me give you one example. British soldiers in the Falklands when confronted with Argentinian troops found themselves at a great disadvantage. Actually, one of the first things they did was appropriate the FAL rifles from the dead and wounded enemies. And that...

    Em2 adoption

Well, that came out a bit awkward. What I meant was one to one and a half Minute Of Angle groups. But as I stated everyone is entitled to his own opinion. And admittedly mine is undoubtedly skewed by my personal experiences that go back more than 40 years. Going to make it worse just to prove...

    Em2 adoption

I'm probably a bit chauvinistic but more and more armies are going back to the 7.62mm and FAL -like weapons. If not in a classic assault rifle then as a support or specialized weapon. Warfare again has changed enough that you now need the heavier fire power. I've never seen an Em2 let alone...

AHC: make Mexico be dragged on to American Civil war.

Weren't the French and Mexicans actually involved in for example the Battle of Palmito Ranch?

    Third Crusade Success

As vandevere has already mentioned it could mean than Constantinople is spared. All kinds of possibilities suddenly exist. The East Roman Empire is much stronger than IOTL. Islam is held back or even defeated if the 'crusaders' can consolidate their gains. Egypt is suddenly very vulnerable...

Earliest possible developments of the Musket/Rifle??

Why not look at developing the Girandoni Rifle? https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/48/Girandoni_Air_Rifle.jpg/300px-Girandoni_Air_Rifle.jpg Otoh if you really want to go the traditional black powder way I feel that the slightly later (compared to the La Chaumette/ Ferguson...

No Civil War - when is slavery abolished?

But what makes you think all slavery has been abolished? That people are no longer literally owned by other people who actually have the power of life or death over them? Because it still exists and the US Civil War didn't bring any changes to their fate.
