  1. AH Recurring Tropes, and the timelines that avert or subvert them

I don't know if I'm playing into that corollary, but I'm going for no Spanish colonization of the Philippines, and instead it would slowly but surely be Japan, although this is in the 1570's and I'm intending for a hodge-poge of cultures to arise and maybe an an independent confederation down...
  2. WI/AHC: A far-right equivalent of communism?

Could you have something similar to the Ottomanism idea but make into a far right ideology. Basically a Monarchy advocates for a restoration of old borders and tries to form a national identity based on the dynasty and the political right's it affords. For example Carolingianism which tries to...
  3. PC/AHC/WI: Dutch "manifest destiny"

I mean I'm not sure how you can even have 'Dutch' manifest destiny? Even with a situation where the Dutch Republic manages to get someone to be their monarch, instead of having to form a Republican Government because no one wants to touch the area with a 10 foot pole, where maybe the provinces...
  4. AHC: Three Huge Islamic Empires

Couldn't you just go with wanking the Ottomans in the late 1300's while both the Mamluks and Timurids exist, if we want to be as simple as possible?
  5. With the European crusaders coming from the west and the Mongols from the east could Middle Eastern Islam been wiped out?

Reply you can't really wipe out Islam at this point. Both Crusaders and Mongols are going to be minorities in majority Muslim lands, not to mention Islam became the religion in the perhaps all of the Mongol Empire beyond China. You couldn't even wipe out the Arab, Persian and Turkish lords...
  6. A Storm Over Okehazama Redux: A Sengoku Japan TL

I mean my idea was more the Shogunate cannot do much in theory or even in practice it still relies on the cooperation of clans (for now). I'd feel that the most that would happen political in terms is the adaptation of different class systems, because the pre-colonial systems of the Philippines...
  7. A Storm Over Okehazama Redux: A Sengoku Japan TL

But i'm still thinking of what to do culture wise, I'm not fond of the magical white people tropes who can settle and assimilate where ever and I don't want to replace that with the Japanese. I know I want a native Daimyo system, but I'm unsure of how it would work. Feudal Japan as in the title...

Threadmarks: Part 53: The Assault on Pangasinan Part 2

April 31st, 1576 Bintalogan, Pangasinan 'Damn that Monkey, I never should have trusted him, yet he oddly enough seems to have decided to have kept me alive, for now.' Lin Feng was now leading what remained of his force towards his former capital. "Is this what passes for a city among these...
  9. Foreign policy of Mary Stuart as queen?

Your giving Mary post Francis II far too much credit, she was basically hemmed in by the Protestant Scottish Parliament. Now that she is coming into England, I don't see anything more than this being an administrative hell. Anything that gives slightest whiff of Mary trying to bring back...
  10. Earlier Collapse/Partition of the Ottoman Empire?

The problem with trying to 'partition' the Ottoman Empire is I really doubt anyone can cleanly extend influence across even the Ottoman's European territories, up to Istanbul, because this plan seems like the biggest of all pipe dreams. It is probably going to be chaos, what do you about the...
  11. Request Maps/Flags/Coats of Arms/Heraldry here, II

The Chinese weren't big of coats of arms, even the flag used by the Qing had symbolism typical of the Emperor the color yellow and the usage of a dragon and what do you by with Dutch characteristics?
  12. Request Maps/Flags/Coats of Arms/Heraldry here, II

I'm not really sure if I would like the coat of arms like that, assuming I could even kitbash enough ideal flags to work with. Even though I do admit to really misreading your initial reply.
  13. Request Maps/Flags/Coats of Arms/Heraldry here, II

So something like this but a little less crooked and with more quality to it? I had to resort to keeping Ireland as one of the lower parts, and since their are no clean impalement of the Swedish Coat of arms of i had to use the Shield arms and Bjelbo coats of arms separately.
  14. Map Thread XIX

I hope this isn't too blurry. For the longest time making a political map of Japan as was a pain for me considering how divided it could be especially in the Northeastern parts. So this is my first attempt actually creating a map with all of the proper political divisions, mind you this was done...
  15. Request Maps/Flags/Coats of Arms/Heraldry here, II

Does anyone have a suggestions for what could be the coat of arms of Vasa-Tudor union of England,Ireland and Sweden, where the union comes from the marriage of Eric XIV and Elizabeth Tudor, and a union of France and Scotland under the descendants of Mary Queen of Scots and Francis II of France?

April 23rd, 1576 Agoo, Kingdom of Pangasinan Kuki Yoshitaka was sent to lead the Expeditionary Fleet to the Southwest Islands. The Japanese fleet comprised a mix of fifty five junks and Nanban ships, while the Pirate fleet consisted of sixty three junks and other vessels. The Japanese fleet...
  17. AHC: Have the British Isles be Europe's Japan

What do you mean by Japan here? Because the only place that really would work as a one to one feudal Japan analogue would be Ireland, an area where central authority is limited and large family groups wage intercine warfare, give or take a high king of varying power. The other alternative would...
  18. Foreign policy of Mary Stuart as queen?

Mary as Queen of both Scotland and England would be a damn nightmare, especially if it is before Francis gets sick and dies. England is not firmly on one side of the Reformation yet, Ireland is basically anything goes outside of the Dublin since only Henry VIII recently tried to expand royal...
  19. WI Nanban trade evolves into a Trans-Pacific Slave Trade

From the sound of things Columbus not being utterly harsh to the natives might work, but how you would stop assimilation unless the Spanish are nowhere near as wildly successful?
  20. WI: Iberian Union remains unified

It depends on when your starting point is, an Iberian Union won't necessarily have the Dutch as enemies, or even a Thirty Years War, a part of which which you could blame on Philip II's poor handling of the Netherlands eroding any attempts at religious peace. In trying to keep the Iberian Union...
